No. 17 Oregon State 77, Nicholls State 3: Cody Vaz passed for three touchdowns, Storm Woods rushed for two and Markus Wheaton became the school’s all-time leader in receptions as the Beavers set a school record for points in a game.
Sean Mannion threw two second-half touchdown passes and Oregon State (9-3) rolled up 683 total yards and had a 42-12 edge in first downs against FCS Nicholls State (1-10).
Wheaton caught 12 passes for 123 yards to raise his career reception count to 224, surpassing former teammate James Rodgers (222 from 2007-11) for the school record. Wheaton caught a 2-yard scoring pass and also scored on a 10-yard reverse.
Woods scored on runs of 8 and 1 in the first quarter and the Beavers tallied 21 second-quarter points. Terron Ward scored on a 15-yard run between Wheaton’s two touchdowns in the period as Oregon State took a 35-0 halftime lead.
Mannion connected on touchdown passes of 4 yards to Richard Mullaney and 22 yards to Kevin Cummings during the first six minutes of the third quarter to boost the lead to 49-0.
