San Diego State 21, No. 14 Boise State 19:
Adam Muema rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown and Colin Lockett opened the game with a 100-yard kickoff return as the visiting Aztecs notched a stunning upset of the No. 14 Broncos in Mountain West Conference play.

Walter Kazee also scored on a short run for San Diego State (7-3, 5-1), which has a five-game winning streak for the first time since 1995 and moved into a first-place tie with Fresno State by snapping Boise State’s seven-game winning streak.

The Broncos (7-2, 4-1) had their BCS bowl hopes derailed and lost at home for only the fourth time in their last 82 games at Bronco Stadium dating back to the 2000 season.

Boise State recovered from Lockett’s game-opening kickoff return to take a 13-7 lead on D.J. Harper touchdown runs of 1 and 16 yards. But Dwayne Garrett blocked Trevor Harman’s punt early in the third quarter to set up a go-ahead 3-yard scoring run by Muema with 9:41 left.

Kazee’s 1-yard run with 12:20 remaining in the contest boosted the Aztecs’ lead to 21-13. Boise State’s Joe Southwick tossed a 1-yard scoring pass to Dan Paul with 5:35 left, but Southwick’s two-point conversion pass was intercepted by Rene Siluano.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The kickoff return was Lockett’s second of the season and third of his career. … Harper has 36 career rushing touchdowns, one behind fourth-place Cedric Minter (1977-80) on Boise State’s ledger. … The victory was the 77th in Mountain West play for San Diego State coach Rocky Long, matching the conference record held by TCU’s Gary Patterson.
