No. 15 Stanford 48, Colorado 0: Redshirt freshman Kevin Hogan passed for two touchdowns, Stepfan Taylor rushed for two more and the 15th-ranked Cardinal outgained the host Buffaloes by a 436-76 margin.
Hogan took over for Josh Nunes at quarterback late in the first quarter and was 18-of-23 for 184 yards as Stanford (7-2, 5-1 Pac-12) kept its North Division title hopes alive. The Cardinal led 35-0 at halftime and outgained Colorado 249-20 before intermission while recording five sacks - two by Henry Anderson.
Sophomore safety Ed Reynolds returned an interception for a touchdown for the second straight game - a 52-yarder to open the scoring - and freshman Remound Wright scored his first TD. After punting on their first two offensive possessions, Hogan led the Cardinal on four straight scoring drives.
Jordan Webb, Nick Hirschman and Connor Wood were a combined 12-of-23 for 97 yards with an interception and were sacked seven times. The Buffaloes (1-8, 1-5) have been outscored 261-51 during a five-game losing streak - including 124-6 in the first half of the last three contests.
Hogan's touchdown passes went to Levine Toilolo and Zach Ertz - a 1-yarder in the second quarter. Toilolo's 19-yarder in the third quarter capped an eight-play, 77-yard drive which featured three rushes for 28 yards by Anthony Wilkerson out of Stanford's version of the Wildcat offense.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Taylor has 947 yards this season, putting him on the verge of becoming the first player in Stanford history with three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He is also 317 from breaking Darrin Nelson's school record for career rushing yards (4,033). ... The Buffaloes are last among the 120 FBS teams in points allowed with 416, an average of 46.2. ... Colorado was last shut out 26-0 at Missouri in 2010, while Stanford last held an opponent scoreless in 2010, when it blanked Oregon State 38-0 on Nov. 27 for its third shutout of the season.
