No. 7 Kansas State 56, Kansas 16: Collin Klein accounted for four touchdowns and John Hubert ran for four more as the host Wildcats won their fourth consecutive Sunflower Showdown.
Kansas State (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) trailed twice as the Jayhawks scored on their first two drives, but outscored them 28-2 in the third quarter to pull away.
Klein ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns – including a 1-yard keeper that gave the Wildcats the lead for good 21-14 in the second quarter – and threw two more before being pulled late in the third. Hubert added 101 yards, with touchdown runs of 20, 32, 1 and 10.
Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist started the game 7-of-8, but was intercepted three times – twice off deflected passes – and lost a fumble as the Jayhawks (1-4, 0-2) had five turnovers.
Crist finished 16-of-27 for 189 yards and an opening-drive touchdown pass. James Sims ran for 115 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown for the Jayhawks, who haven’t won a conference road game since 2008 – a span of 14 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas fell to 2-24 since 2009 in the Big 12 and have lost 14 straight to FBS opponents. … Kansas State has outscored Kansas by 130 points in the past three Sunflower Showdowns. … The Jayhawks leads the all-time series 65-40-5, although Kansas State coach Bill Snyder is 17-4 against Kansas.
