Recap: North Carolina State 17, Florida State 16

North Carolina State 17, No. 4 Florida State 16: Mike Glennon tossed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Underwood on fourth-and-goal with 16 seconds remaining as host North Carolina State stunned Florida State.

After a blocked punt gave North Carolina State a short field with just over two minutes to play, the Wolfpack ran 12 plays before Glennon found Underwood over the middle for the final score.

The play capped a steady uprising for North Carolina State (4-2, 1-1 ACC), which outscored Florida State 17-0 after halftime. The Seminoles (5-1, 2-1) were averaging more than 51 points per game entering Saturday's contest.

Shadrach Thornton trimmed the Seminoles' lead to six at 16-10 with 13:47 remaining in the fourth quarter after he extended his body to score on a 24-yard pass play.

Chris Thompson rushed for 141 yards and EJ Manuel tossed a touchdown pass to Nick O'Leary, but the Seminoles were denied their first 6-0 start since 1999.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Thompson reached the 100-yard plateau for the sixth time in his career. ... North Carolina State improved to 11-22 all-time against Florida State, including 7-9 in Raleigh. ... Dustin Hopkins kicked field goals of 49, 20 and 36 yards for Florida State.
