Recap: LSU 63, Idaho 14

No. 2 LSU 63, Idaho 14: Zach Mettenberger passed for 222 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Kenny Hilliard ran for 116 yards and scored twice as the second-ranked Tigers pulled away in the second half to beat the visiting Vandals at Tiger Stadium.

LSU (3-0) intercepted four passes from Idaho quarterback Dominique Blackman, returning two for touchdowns.

Jeremy Hill added 61 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns, and Alfred Blue ran for 46 yards and another score as the Tigers racked up 250 rushing yards.

Blackman completed 23 of 36 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns for the Vandals (0-3), who were limited to 39 yards on the ground.

Idaho trailed by just 14 points at the half, but LSU defensive end Lavar Edwards returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown near the four-minute mark of the third quarter. Hilliard ran 71 yards for another score and then capped off the quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 49-14.

GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU has won 40 consecutive non-conference games, an NCAA record. … The Tigers scored at least 50 points for the fifth time in eight seasons under coach Les Miles. … A crowd of 92,177 watched the game.
