The last thing Syracuse and running back Antwon Bailey wanted was another overtime game.

After blowing a 17-point lead, the Orange were staring at their fourth overtime of the season on Saturday at the Superdome.

But Bailey led Syracuse down the field to the 4-yard line and Ross Krautman booted a 21-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Orange to a 37-34 victory.

Trick plays and long passes turned into a treat for Tulane, which rallied from a pair of 17-point deficits. Tulane used a bevy of flea-flickers and reverses which led to several big plays and cut the deficit to 31-27 in the fourth quarter.

Ryan Griffin completed four passes for more than 35 yards apiece, including a 60-yard scoring pass to Xavier Rush in the second quarter and a 58-yarder to Rush tie the game with 3:35 left in the fourth.

Bailey finished with 111 yards on 24 carries as Syracuse (4-2) defeated Tulane for the fifth straight time.

Orange quarterback Ryan Nassib threw a pair of touchdown passes.

Griffin paced Tulane (2-4) with 320 yards and two touchdowns on 24-of-30 passing. Orleans Darkwa scored on a 40-yard draw play to give the Green Wave a 7-0 lead, but they never led again.
