Oct 8, 2011
Tommy Rees threw first-half touchdown passes to four different receivers, leading Notre Dame to a 59-33 rout of visiting Air Force on Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Irish (4-2) scored touchdowns on each of their first six possessions, building a 42-16 halftime advantage behind Rees, who completed 23 of 32 passes for 261 yards. Notre Dame took the lead for good on the game's opening drive when Michael Floyd hauled in a 34-yard touchdown on third-and-10.
Both teams moved the ball almost at will, with Air Force (3-2) outgaining the Irish by a slim 565-560 margin but committing a pair of key first-half turnovers. Notre Dame, which was tied for the FBS lead with 15 giveaways through the first four games of the season, finished without a turnover for the second straight week.
Backup quarterback Andrew Hendrix led Notre Dame with 111 yards rushing, including a 78-yard burst that set up the final Fighting Irish touchdown. Theo Riddick and Tyler Eifert each finished with eight receptions and a score.
Asher Clark rushed for 102 yards to pace the Falcons in defeat.
