Chris Rainey topped 100 yards both rushing and receiving as No. 16 Florida defeated Tennessee 33-23 on Saturday in the Swamp. Florida's Will Muschamp was victorious in his first SEC game as a head coach, and the Gators (3-0, 1-0 SEC) notched their seventh consecutive win over the Volunteers (2-1, 0-1).

Rainey came up with the play of the game for Florida, taking a short pass and exploding on an 83-yard catch-and-run touchdown that gave the Gators a comfortable 30-7 lead. Trey Burton also caught a touchdown pass from John Brantley and ran for another score.

Brantley completed 14-of-23 passes with two touchdowns. Florida was plagued by shotgun snap issues a year ago at this time, but on Saturday the exchanges between James Stone and quarterback Tyler Bray proved problematic for Tennessee. Bray still threw for three touchdowns to three different targets, extending his program-record streak of consecutive games with at least two touchdown passes to nine.

The Tennessee offense was hindered all day. Justin Hunter, the team's top receiver, injured his knee on the Vols' first series. And Tauren Poole, who topped 100 yards rushing in each of the Vols' first two lgames, was held in check while three Florida sacks contributed to a net rushing effort of negative-9 yards for Tennessee.

Florida won despite getting flagged for 16 penalties, including five pass interference calls.
