Recap: Texas Tech 58, Weber State 21

Taylor Potts threw two touchdowns and rushed for another – in the first quarter – and the Texas Tech Red Raiders rolled to a 64-21 victory over Weber State, an FCS school.

With the victory, Texas Tech (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) is bowl eligible and can extend its streak to 11 consecutive bowl games after the season, while Weber State falls to 6-5, 5-3 Big Sky.

There was never a doubt. The Red Raiders controlled the game, jumping out to a 44-0 lead in the first half. Potts finished the game 21 of 24 for 272 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing score.

Freshman running back Ben McRoy led the Red Raiders in rushing, gaining 76 yards on eight carries, including two touchdown runs. Baron Batch also had a rushing score.

Weber State avoided the shutout with a touchdown midway through the third quarter, when Cameron Higgins found Brian Jankowski on a 6-yard passing play.

The Wildcats scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
