Nick Moody returned an interception 95 yards for a touchdown with 54 seconds left to seal Florida State's 30-16 victory over host Maryland in the Atlantic Coast Conference on Saturday night.
Maryland had a 4th-and-7 from the Florida State 19 when Moody picked off freshman Danny O'Brien's pass.
Chris Thompson scored on a 70-yard touchdown run for the Seminoles (8-3, 6-2 ACC), who moved into first place in the ACC's Atlantic Division.
Florida State took a 20-16 lead late in the third quarter when quarterback Christian Ponder hit Bert Reed down the middle with a 44-yard pass. Dustin Hopkins' third field goal of the game with 4:40 left in the fourth quarter gave the Seminoles a 23-16 lead.
Reed had six catches for 92 yards, while Thompson finished with 94 yards rushing.
Travis Baltz' third field goal of the game had put Maryland ahead 16-13.
O'Brien finished 25 of 45 for 269 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Will Yeatman.
Maryland (7-4, 4-3 ACC Atlantic) outgained Florida State 434-353, but had four turnovers.
