Kentucky's defense was a little flat, but Coshik Williams and Donald Russell more than made up for it.

Williams ran for three touchdowns and Russell ran for two of his own to lead Kentucky to a 49-21 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Mike Hartline threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats (5-5), who were playing their final out-of-conference game of the season before wrapping up their Southeastern Conference slate with games against Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

Charleston Southern (2-7) of the Big South Conference, scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters, but it was not enough to keep pace with Kentucky.

Williams and Russell each had a rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Hartline threw a 53-yard scoring strike to Chris Matthews in the second quarter and Williams added another rushing score just before the half to give the Wildcats a 28-14 lead.

Hartline connected with Randall Cobb for a 36-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and Williams and Russell each tacked on rushing scores in the fourth for the Wildcats. Russell finished with 110 yards on 10 carries and Williams added 95 yards on 13 carries.

Gerald Stevenson had five receptions for 68 yards and added a rushing touchdown for the Buccaneers.
