Recap: LSU 29, Mississippi State 7

Josh Jasper set a school record with five field goals, and No. 12 LSU forced five turnovers to beat Mississippi State 29-7 in a Southeastern Conference matchup Saturday.

LSU (3-0) scored on its first seven possessions.

The Tigers led 12-0 at halftime on four Jasper field goals. Jasper hit from 44 yards in the first quarter, from 32, 51 and 37 yards in the second quarter and from 21 yards in the fourth quarter.

Vick Ballard's 1-yard touchdown run got the Bulldogs (1-2) within 12-7 with 8:17 left in the third, but Mississippi State's next three possessions ended in interceptions, and the Tigers converted the turnovers into 17 points.

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson threw for 95 yards on 10-of-16 passing, and also rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown. Stevan Ridley led the Tigers with 75 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Mississippi State quarterbacks Tyler Russell and Chris Reif combined for 115 yards and five interceptions.
