Colin Kaepernick passed for 150 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 146 more and three scores to lead Nevada to a 52-31 victory over California on Friday.

Marlon Johnson returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown and Vai Taua chipped in 152 yards and a score on 25 carries for the Wolf Pack, who have run up 152 total points in their first three games.

The teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter on Kaepernick’s 15-yard touchdown pass and Shane Vereen’s 59-yard rushing score for the Golden Bears.

But California had no answer for Kaepernick’s dual-threat abilities in the second quarter as the quarterback rushed for a pair of scores early in the period to give Nevada a 21-7 edge. Vereen rushed for another score and the Wolf Pack added a field goal before the half to make it 24-14 at the break.

The Golden Bears looked like they were getting back into it when Vereen rushed for a 50-yard score on their first possession of the second half, but senior quarterback threw an interception on the next possession, leading to Johnson’s score that made it 31-21.

Kaepernick almost had another touchdown pass late in the third when he hit Rishard Matthews down the middle for 27 yards, but Matthews fumbled inside the five and then reached out to retrieve the ball on the goal line for another score.
