David Bote's one-out, solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Chicago Cubs a 3-2, walk-off victory over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Bote sent an 0-2 pitch over the left field bleachers for the win and his fifth homer of the season. Bote was the second Cubs batter Reds closer Raisel Iglesias (2-2) faced after entering in the 10th.

Daniel Murphy, in just his third game with Chicago and his second as a Cub at Wrigley Field, hit his first Cubs homer -- a two-out solo shot off of Reds reliever Jared Hughes -- for a short-lived 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth.

Cincinnati's Eugenio Suarez tied it at 2-2 in the top of the ninth with a leadoff homer off Cubs closer Pedro Strop. It was Suarez's 29th homer of the season.

Murphy, 4-for-10 with one RBI in his first two games with the Cubs, was acquired from the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

Cubs reliever Jesse Chavez (4-2), who pitched a perfect top of the 10th, picked up the win.

Prior to the start of the game, Reds starter Matt Harvey was almost traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, who claimed the veteran right-hander on revocable waivers earlier in the week. The Brewers and Reds faced a 1:30 p.m. ET deadline to work out a deal, but the two NL Central teams were unable to do so.

Once Harvey took the mound on Friday, he was nearly untouchable through the first five innings, allowing just one single and a walk while striking out six. But Harvey ran into trouble in the sixth after yielding four singles, including Javier Baez's one-out RBI that tied the game at 1-1.

Reds reliever Cody Reed entered and induced Anthony Rizzo to hit into a 1-2-3 double play; an umpire review was needed to rule Rizzo out at first as the Cubs slugger was initially called safe.

The Reds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on back-to-back doubles by Mason Williams and Phillip Ervin. Williams' double hit the top of the basket in left-center field and initially was ruled a home run before an umpire review overturned the call.

Making his first major league start, Cubs right-hander Alec Mills -- in his fifth career major league game -- allowed just three hits and one run while striking out eight and walking one in 5 2/3 innings.

Mills retired 14 in a row before being lifted with two outs in the top of the sixth after allowing two batters to reach. Lefty Randy Rosario thwarted the Cincinnati threat by striking out Williams.
