Christian Yelich drove in two runs with a home run and a sacrifice fly to back the sterling pitching of Freddy Peralta as the Milwaukee Brewers rolled to a 4-0 win over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon at Miller Park in the finale of a three-game series between the two National League Central rivals.

The win was the third in the past four games for the Brewers and their first series win since taking two of three contests at home versus the Colorado Rockies on Aug. 3-5.

Peralta (6-4) hurled three-hit ball over seven scoreless innings while striking out seven and walking two in one of the strongest showings of his 13-game major league career. He allowed one hit over seven innings and struck out 10 Kansas City Royals on June 26.

Jeremy Jeffress got the final four outs of the game to earn his sixth save of the season.

The Brewers, who currently possess one of the National League's two wild-card spots, moved within 2 1/2 games of the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. The Cubs play the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

Yelich gave Peralta and the Brewers all the runs they needed when he clubbed a solo homer in the first inning. Peralta then helped his own cause with a run-scoring single in the fourth that plated Ryan Braun and pushed Milwaukee's lead to 2-0.

In the sixth inning, Yelich lifted a sacrifice fly to left field that drove home Jonathan Schoop. Lorenzo Cain later reached on a soft infield single to second base, beating the throw and allowing Manny Pina to cross home plate with the Brewers' fourth run.

Robert Stephenson (0-2) took the loss for the Reds, allowing all four runs on nine hits and three walks in five-plus innings of work. Stephenson struck out four.

Yelich went 4-for-4 with a walk in the win while Cain had three hits for the Brewers' 14-hit attack.

The Reds had just five hits in the loss, all of them singles, with two of them coming from Jose Peraza.
