Paul Goldschmidt hit the go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning Tuesday night and Zack Greinke won his fourth straight start as the Arizona Diamondbacks held on for a 4-2 win over the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Chase Field.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Diamondbacks. The Cardinals have lost five of six.

Goldschmidt homered to the opposite field off Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty (3-4) and finished 2-for-4 -- he singled in the eighth inning -- to continue his torrid five-week stretch. He is batting .385 with 13 homers and 32 RBIs in 33 games since May 27 to lift his overall average from .201 to .277. The first baseman has six hits in eight at-bats in the first two games of the three-game series against the Cardinals.

David Peralta had an RBI single in the first inning for the Diamondbacks while Jake Lamb had two hits.

Greinke (9-5) allowed two runs -- the first time he has been scored upon since June 18 -- on seven hits and one walk while striking out four over 6 2/3 innings.

Greinke is 6-1 with a 2.93 ERA in his last seven starts dating back to June 2.

The Cardinals scored on consecutive pitches against Greinke in the second, when Yairo Munoz hit an RBI single and Kolten Wong followed with a sacrifice fly.

Yoshihisa Hirano got the final out of the seventh, Archie Bradley threw a perfect eighth and Brad Boxberger earned his 20th save with a hitless ninth.

Flaherty allowed four runs on four hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings. The rookie has given up eight runs over 10 innings in his last two starts after producing an 0.98 ERA (two runs in 18 1/3 innings) in three starts from June 11-22.
