Cleveland Guardians vs Boston Red Sox Box Score on Aug 21, 2018

Shane Bieber took a shutout into the seventh inning and Melky Cabrera collected a single, double and home run Tuesday night, helping the Cleveland Indians win a second straight game against the host Boston Red Sox, 6-3, in a duel of division leaders at Fenway Park.

Yan Gomes homered and drove in two runs for the Indians, who also won 5-4 on Monday night in their first meeting this season with the Red Sox.

Bieber (7-2) retired the first 10 batters and faced the minimum through five innings, taking a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

The Red Sox rallied on Xander Bogaerts' RBI double and Mitch Moreland's sacrifice fly, sending Bieber to the showers, before Adam Cimber retired both batters he faced, allowing an inherited runner to score on an Ian Kinsler groundout, to end the inning with Cleveland retaining a 5-3 lead.

Gomes then drilled his 12th homer of the season off Tyler Thornburg in the eighth, rebuilding a three-run cushion for the Cleveland bullpen.

Andrew Miller and Brad Hand no-hit Boston over the final two innings, each striking out two, to wrap up the Indians' 19th victory in their last 25 games. Hand registered his fifth save with the Indians and 29th this season.

Bieber worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and five hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.

Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi (5-5) was pulled one out into the sixth and charged with four runs allowed on 10 hits. He walked one and struck out two.

Cabrera scored Cleveland's first run in the fourth inning after a two-out single started a string of four straight hits, including Gomes' RBI single and Greg Allen's run-scoring double to left.

Cabrera then led off the sixth by smacking his sixth homer of year off Eovaldi. Later in the inning, Michael Brantley delivered a two-out RBI single to give Cleveland a 4-0 lead.

Yonder Alonso hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh, extending the Indians' lead to 5-0.

Cabrera and Gomes scored two runs apiece, while Michael Brantley and Greg Allen added two hits each for the Indians, who out-hit the Red Sox 13-5.

Andrew Benintendi had two hits for the Red Sox, who lost their third straight and fell to 2-3 on their seven-game homestand.
