Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Box Score on Jul 12, 2018

The Los Angeles Dodgers scored three runs in the seventh inning Thursday night to break up a scoreless tie, and they held on for a 3-2 victory over the host San Diego Padres in the finale of a four-game series at Petco Park.

Dodgers starter Ross Stripling (8-2) allowed no runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts over six innings. The All-Star right-hander threw enough innings to qualify for the National League ERA leaderboard, and he jumps on in second place at 2.08.

Kenley Jansen tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his second save in as many nights and his 26th on the season.

Los Angeles posted its third win in the four-game series and moved past the Arizona Diamondbacks into first place in the National League West.

Padres starter Tyson Ross, who had given up 15 runs on 14 hits over a total of seven innings in his two previous starts, had a no-hitter going for 5 1/3 innings before Joc Pederson doubled.

Another one-out double by Chris Taylor with one out in the seventh led to Ross' downfall. Andrew Toles followed with a single that broke up the scoreless tie.

Reliever Craig Stammen entered and hit the first two Dodgers he faced -- Enrique Hernandez and Chase Utley -- ahead of a bases-loaded, run-scoring single to left by pinch hitter Matt Kemp. However, Padres left fielder Wil Myers threw out trailing runner Hernandez at the plate.

Pederson then singled home pinch runner Logan Forsythe to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.

And they needed the third run.

Austin Hedges opened the bottom of the seventh by drawing a walk from reliever Daniel Hudson. After Franmil Reyes singled, left-hander Scott Alexander replaced Hudson and struck out Travis Jankowski and pinch hitter Christian Villanueva before Myers hit a two-run double to bring the Padres to within a run.

Slumping Eric Hosmer grounded out for the fourth time in the game to strand Myers at second.

Ross (5-8) was charged with two runs on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Myers finished 3-for-4, and he is 12-for-29 (.414) with six homers and 11 RBIs in his past eight games.
