Panthers vs Oilers Prop Picks and Best Bets: Bobrovsky Tough to Beat

Sergei Bobrovsky has had a remarkable postseason, and our NHL betting picks don't see any reason to fade him in Game 4 as the Panthers try to put away the Oilers. Robert Criscola also has prop plays involving Connor McDavid and Stuart Skinner.

The Edmonton Oilers are in must-win territory from here on out in the Stanley Cup Final as the Florida Panthers hold a 3-0 series lead going into Game 4 on Saturday night.

My Panthers vs. Oilers predictions in the NHL player prop department will focus on each man in the crease, but the first of my NHL picks for June 15 concerns Conor McDavid.

Panthers vs Oilers prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Connor does what he can

The goals have been lacking for Connor McDavid throughout the postseason, as he has just five through 21 games and none in the Stanley Cup Final. He has, however, compiled plenty of assists (29 total, three in the series) as well as shots on goal. I'm focusing on the latter category and banking on McDavid to test Sergei Bobrovsky at least four times in Game 4.

McDavid has fired a team-best 14 shots on net in the Stanley Cup Final and trails only Zach Hyman, who's been struggling to find his best stride in this series, for the team lead in these playoffs (83-69). No. 97 has topped 3.5 shots on goal in six of his last nine overall and two of three vs. the Florida Panthers

McDavid is likely feeling the pressure more than anyone on the Edmonton Oilers bench of trying to make this a series, and I think he'll take things into his own hands once again.

Prop bet #2: Skinner comes up short

A more conservative game plan for the Panthers should mean less work for Stuart Skinner, so I'll take the Under on his saves prop this Saturday.

Skinner exits his worst performance since Game 3 of the Western Conference Final, where he also allowed four goals. He stopped only 19 of 23 Florida shots, marking the third straight time he went below 25.5 saves to start this series. He's stopped 26 or more pucks in only two of his last 15 starts dating back to the quarterfinal round.

Simply put, this line is far too high with Skinner averaging only 21.4 saves per game on 24 shots per game this postseason.

Stuart Skinner prop: Under 25.5 saves (-115 at BET99)

Prop bet #3: What about Bob?

Sergei Bobrovsky is currently a runaway favorite in the Conn Smythe Trophy odds, and he has every chance to secure the honor on Saturday night by allowing two goals or fewer.

I think the puck will be on the Oilers' sticks more often in Game 4, especially if Florida builds another early advantage, as the Panthers don't have to take risks with a 3-0 series lead. While Florida going into a shell in their half of the ice could still lead to an increase in shots, Bobrovsky has shown throughout the playoffs that he can stand tall in the crease if the Cats blueliners get overwhelmed.

Bobrovsky has already made 32 saves twice in this series, tied for his playoff-high. The three goals "Bob" allowed in Game 3 were the most since he let five pucks by vs. the New York Rangers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final, but that was an outlier effort. He's surrendered more than two goals just three times in his last 16 postseason affairs.
