The Boston Bruins continue to write history at TD Garden as they are now a perfect 13-0-0 on home ice this season. A couple of teams have come close to beating them, but nobody has been able to finish the job.

The Colorado Avalanche are seeking to put an end to the Bruins’ streak after beating the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night thanks to an incredible performance from Nathan MacKinnon, who tallied two goals and three assists.

The Bruins have looked unbeatable on home ice, but if any team can take them down, it’s the defending champs. Find out who has the betting edge with our Bruins vs. Avalanche NHL picks and predictions for Saturday, December 3.

Avalanche vs Bruins best odds

Avalanche vs Bruins picks and predictions

This matchup could very well be a preview of this year’s Stanley Cup Final with the talent that each of these teams have.

The conversation has been about how good the Bruins are on home ice, but for this game, we need to take into consideration how strong the Avalanche have been on the road. The Avs enter this game with an 8-4-0 record as the away team. Alexandar Georgiev, who will be in goal for Colorado, is skating to a 7-2-0 record on the road, with a 2.52 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. Offensively, the Avs are scoring 3.17 goals for in these twelve road games, which makes it safe to say that they do not fear playing in Boston.

There’s no denying that what the Bruins are doing at home is incredibly impressive, but is it truly sustainable? All streaks must come to an end at some point, and although the Bruins have the edge defensively, the Avalanche power play — the best in the league — could be the difference maker. Their man-advantage unit went 3-for-6 on Thursday night and looked very confident when they were out there.

This is going to be the toughest opponent that the Bruins have played at home so far and I think the defending Stanley Cup Champions will be the team that ends their streak at 13.

Avalanche vs Bruins moneyline analysis

The Boston Bruins have been the best team in the NHL this season. While I think that’s something everyone can agree on, the Avalanche are no team to look past. The Avs are 4-1-0 in their last five road games and Georgiev has been a pleasant surprise in goal.

This game should be very evenly played as both of these teams are almost equally as strong on the offensive and defensive ends. The Avalanche are the second-best team in the league at generating scoring chances, but on the flip side, the Bruins are the best team in the league at preventing scoring chances, so it will be interesting to see how closely the Bs’ defensemen play against Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen

Statistically, the Bruins might be the better team right now, but the Avs roster is as deep as it gets. MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Cale Makar all played great in the last game and will try to keep that going. The Bruins have talent on their side as well in David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and Charlie McAvoy, but Colorado’s big three are just a little scarier.

Avalanche vs Bruins Over/Under analysis

Even though this game will have a plethora of offensively gifted players, this game has a lot of hype leading up to it and I’m sure there will be a lot of emotion as both teams want to make a statement. I don’t see this being such a wide-open game because both are just as strong defensively as they are offensively.

When you think of the Bruins and the Avalanche, offense might be the first thing that comes to mind, but this season has been a little different. Boston enters this game with a 2.56 xGA/60 and Colorado boasts a 2.94 xGA/60.

Georgiev and Linus Ullmark have been two of the best goalies in the league this season and they will most definitely be at their best for this matchup. I think this will be a very closely played, low-scoring game.
