U.S. Open picks and predictions
Scottie Scheffler outright winner (+775)
The North Course at the LACC hosts this year’s U.S. Open. The first guy to target this week is the betting favorite and No. 1 golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler. While backing the shortest-priced guy in the market is typically not my favorite avenue to go down, Scheffler has been too good to pass up. Not only has he made each of his past 15 cuts, but he has finished inside the Top 12 in ALL 15 of those events. Scheffler has also finished in the Top 10 in seven of his past nine major championship appearances.
Patrick Cantlay outright winner (+1,900)
Cantlay is one of the very few in the field who has played at LACC numerous times, given that he was born in Long Beach and played golf at UCLA. On top of being one of only a handful of guys this week that has played this course competitively, Cantlay also enters this tournament in tremendous form. This season, he has made 13 of his 14 cuts with seven Top 10 finishes. He has also finished inside the Top 15 in each of his past four major championship appearances.

Xander Schauffele Top 10 (+230)
Schauffele has yet to break through at a major, but his game doesn’t really have any holes and, as a result, he has a ridiculously high floor. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise he’s been incredibly consistent in U.S. Opens: Schauffele was Top 7 or better in his first five U.S. Championships before finishing 14th last year.
Tyrrell Hatton Top 20 (+145)
It will probably shock you to realize that Hatton ranks third on tour when it comes to Strokes Gained: Total and scoring average. He also ranks 11th in Strokes Gained: Off the tee, 17th in Strokes Gained: Approach, and seventh in Strokes Gained: Putting.

Max Homa (+2,800)
He simply checks off all of the boxes, ranking No. 6 on the PGA Tour in SG: Total in 49 measured rounds with a value of 1.820. In addition, he is No. 17 in SG: Tee-to-Green with a 1.080, while checking in No. 12 in SG: Approach the Green.
Tyrrell Hatton (+3,300)
This is a guy who has been red-hot lately, posting three T5 finishes in the past five outings, while ending up with six consecutive T20 finishes. In fact, he has been at, or Under, par in 10 of his past 11 rounds — dating back to the first round at Oak Hill.
Wyndham Clark (+8,000)
For success at the event on Bermudagrass greens, SG: Approach and SG: Off-the-Tee are incredibly important stats for success. Sound familiar?
Clark ranks No. 23 in SG: Approach, and although he is a mediocre No. 55 in SG: Off-the-Tee, he is also No. 15 in SG: Total, while checking in No. 28 in SG: Tee-to-Green.

Brooks Koepka lowest score among LIV golfers (+200)
Not only has he made the cut in 30 of his past 33 majors, but he boasts 18 Top-10 finishes over that stretch, including his five victories. Koepka is one of the best big-moment golfers on the planet, and the only likely threats to him in this market are Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, and Bryson DeChambeau.

Sam Bennett Top-20 finish (+275)
His ball striking suggests that regression is unlikely for Bennett, ranking in the Top-24 amongst the field in strokes gained on the approach, strokes gained off the tee, strokes gained tee to green and greens in regulation percentage. Finally, he’s part of the morning wave on Friday, so this may be the lowest price we get on him in this market for the rest of the tournament.
Denny McCarthy Top-20 finish (+500)
On TOUR this season, he ranks fourth in strokes gained putting with a per-round average of +0.75 strokes. McCarthy is coming off his runner-up performance at the Memorial Tournament and boasts five Top-20 finishes over his past nine tournaments, and we should expect a strong performance from him over the next three days.

Patrick Cantlay Top-20 finish
We should still expect this to play to his advantage as the tournament continues to roll on. On top of being one of only a handful of guys this week that has played this course competitively prior to this tournament, Cantlay’s recent form suggests a strong finish over the weekend.
Rickie Fowler winner (+330)
There is good reason to believe that Fowler will keep it going over the weekend, primarily because there is no current flaw in his game. His driver is staying accurate, while his iron play has been strong, ranking eighth among the field in strokes gained on the approach and second in strokes gained tee to green.
