chelsea, you bring up a GREAT point.
If you noticed last year towards the end of the POW contest, people started swinging for the fences and trying to hit the "big one"..
Well, it looks like something similar is happening this year.
We have some who are plodding along betting plays to win a unit at a time
We have some who (like me) are trying to use this opportunity to bet plus money plays that I wouldnt normally bet
We have some who are having fun with it and swinging for the fences each week.
To answer you, the winner will be the one with the most units at the end of December. Was MikeC the best capper last year? Dont know, but I do know he showed he could consistently hit plus money plays and finish with the most units won while still having a losing record.
A good capper is a good bettor who turns a profit. If i lent you $1000 and asked you to make me as much profit as you can in 12 months, I dont care if you went 51-1, or if you went 4-48, I care how much you made me. If you hit a +7000 prop bet as one of your 4 wins for the year, then you accomplished your goal by making me more money than if you picked -200 favorites every week for 51 weeks.
The reason I add the 2nd post in the POW thread each week is to give the person who is consiencously trying to win EVERY SINGLE week a bit of the spotlight, as it is not an easy task to have the most wins out of 100 or so cappers.
But in the end, it will be the person with the most units who will have bragging rights.
I cant tell you now, that in my opinion if someone keeps winning at an 80% rate, they will win the Contest over someone who is trying to hit crazy props.
by the way, no one is stopping Mikniks from posting huge plus money dogs...he has just chosen a different route which is working for him!
