We should see more goals
It always surprises me that North Americans have high expectations of their countries in futbol, Canada and USA are just not that good, yeah they're improving, but the talent pool is just not there, youth development is way behind and soccer isn't the nr 1 sport like in the rest of the world.
USA getting this far is pretty flattering I think.

There is P, but when you look at population size it's not that much, and a lot of these players were born somewhere else or 1st generation immigrants... MLS keeps lagging behind and doesn't attract top club players in their prime etc.... It's just a lot of handicaps....

I think that was an old excuse, I disagree with your sentiment. We don't have the pure talent yet but I believe Canada and USA are getting there. This takes time, was never going to be easy. The ground up approach of when the WC was in the USA is starting to work. Will we ever catch up and be one of the best? I am not smoking crack so no as the MLS can't compare to European leagues. But with more talent playing abroad, that gap is closing. And in the knockout phase, anything can happen. Just my 2 cents...

I hear you and I guess I might have sounded harsh. I actually like Lincoln Riley and think he will adjust. With all that money and coach with access to talent, USC will be back. In my mind, as a 5 star why wouldn't you want to be in LA versus a fucking freezing Ann Arbor? In my mind, ASU should be the best team in the country with the "talent level" there and weather. I guess I was just saying sometimes following the rules works, can't always buck the trends. Lincoln is smart and he will get it.
Brother, you talk about USC. I am VT alum, my school is labeled as Chokies (wasn't the case when we absolutely ruled homefield advantage). When we are up by 9 with 5 minutes left, we all sense the game loss coming. I love my school but talk about misery. I would exchange mine for your pain any day...

Spot on
I was glad canada at least potted a few goals, but we are a B team on the world stage maybe even a C team or C+/B-
The goal we allowed to Belgium was a joke for that level of play, which just foreshadowed the Croatia game. And then nothing to play for Morocco and the goalie let em down early.
USA should naturally be a little better than Canada just based on a larger pool of players, therefore better % chance of having quality players
Hosting next world cup and a bigger pool so be interesting to see what happens

I don't get that line on TCU, I passed as well. It was TCU or nothing. Is this another upset and then we get Alabama in the playoffs? If Michigan loses today along with TCU, is there a scenario we get UGA, Clemson, OSU and Alabama? Yuck! NIL advent will pretty much only allow the same teams in the hunt, 12 team playoffs can't come soon enough..

Where was this Dutch team in group play? And my eyes show that the US is playing pretty damn good, Netherlands is just better. But US is getting their chances. Good match!

@KJ1000
All my friends in Belgium with kids have them enrolled in soccer. Literally all of them, often girls too. It goes year round and the level of instruction and professionalism is mind blowing, given that is is all recreational. That doesn't exist here and it will take decades to get there even if the will and interest is there, which I don't think it is.
It's ok not to be a soccer nation, can't do it all.
