Peru v. Uruguay

I typically have a knee jerk reaction to Peruvian football.  POOHruvian . . . with its financial woes plaguing its domestic league and whatnot . . . however, I like this juvenile team.  Tonight's game between Peru and Uruguay looks like a really good match up . . . Peru has 5 of its players that actively play internationally . . . compared to Uruguay's 2 players . . . re Peru, there is a lot of chatter surrounding midfielder Cristian Benavente who has worked his way up through the Real Madrid organization and forward Jean Deza who plays for Zilina.  Striker Polo looks effective too.  (Source: El Bocon; La Razon).  The coach is quite optimistic for Peru.

Uruguay looks formidable also . . . with Lopez from Roma feeding through balls to Gonzalo Bueno (Nacional) ... Uruguay are favored to win this match and the team probably believes it TOO MUCH . . .  multiple sources report the coach is saying that on the offensive side of the ball, they are strong but they need to improve in the back ... that Uruguay's defense is vulnerable and has exhibited lapses of concentration . . . which leads me to assume Uruguay could be susceptible to the guys from Peru.

The press I was reading from Brazil really paints that team as well-rounded ... lacking the one or two big superstars but just a high level all around . . .

Plus - Brazil should be motivated since Argentina lost last night to "make a statement" that they - Brazil - are the "team to beat" . . .
