Players who should never be picked again - Gallen, Mason, White, Pearce (until he gets more weapons into his game)
Good comments Ssecond Again, although I am a little surprised that Anasta missed the cut, his danger in attack was not present and of his 9 kicks in play I can't recall any of substance. Anyhow, three in a row to Qld and I don't see it changing next year

Gun, Second - agree with everything that you have said. A couple of points I've taken out of that game:
1. Bellamy shouldn't be NSW coach - he has openly admitted that he doesn't like coaching against his 36 qld reps, so that's a worry. I'm not sure that I saw one decent grubber behind the line. Instead NSW, as Sydney often do, reverted to the cross-field bomb (which, as an over-used kick happens to shit me more than anything) to wingers who are 6 foot plenty.
2. NSW played far too conservative in the second half - I was waitng for something, but nothing. They had the momentum, had the ascendency and just seemed happy to grind it out. If they haven't figured out by now that you need to put QLD away when you have the chance, they'll never know.
3. Certain players played themselves out of a jersey - I thought Gidley was great at fullback in the first half, he'll be in the side next year. Pearce was solid whilst not spectacular, and I think he'll figure in the future as well. Anasta done nothing, I still think they should have played Mullen at 5/8. Either him or Carney should get a look next year.
4. If this was make or break for Mason - See ya wanker. He did little, again. Hoffman also did nothing for mine, and should never have been picked ahead of Laffranchi in the starting side. I thought Cross was ok, not great. White didn't do it. Gallen, well I think my thoughts for him are well known. Last time he's ever picked if anyone is serious. Guys like Heighnington, Patterson, Creagh will be there next year.
5. Fuck McCarthy, Fulton, Daley - they'll do the same shit next year if they are given the chance.

Battler, can I be a little harsh? Well, with all due respect I am going to give it a crack. I believe you are an awesome NRL capper but one thing in particular has let you down this season...your willingness to back the Knights. I appreciate that you probably know them better than most and know when they are going to fire, but still believe that your record would have been even more impressive had you laid off them a couple of times. Sorry mate, but honestly just trying to be helpful.

1. Bellamy is a competitor and winner. He is the best option for coach. who are the alternatives? No NSW coach has done a thing without Johns or Fittler 2. Yep, no gamebreakers, either in the forwards or backs. Gasnier is a gamebreaker, but who else? 3. Gidley played well, but it resulted in Stewart being wasted. If the plan was the play Gidley then why pick Stewart? Mullen is not up to Origin 4. Mason, Fitzgibbon and Gallen will never be picked again. Byrd will play lock, and the guys you mentioned derserve a look in 5. agreed
And Farah is playing behind a beaten pack. No front row

No need to apologise, guilty of all charges

1. Cannot agree. Bellamy is a winner, no doubt. But I cannot condone a coach that coaches half the other side on a weekly basis. Too many hats. Daley, Johns, Gould Yeah, Gould.....
2.
3. I agree here as well. I would have liked him to be picked at fullback, didn't happen. Little point therefore putting Stewart on the bench. Clearly no communication between selectors and coach.
4. Bird
5.
No doubt. NSW pack has beaten for donkeys years though

I wouldn't let Laurie Daley near the local under 8's, let alone the NSW team. Johns has no experience. But the problem is not the coach
Look at the Qld pack. Two awesome go forward props, a workaholic lock, and no nonsense second rowers and bench. NSW over-complicate it. The NSW selectors lost me when they complained about the ref and said they picked a team to the ref.
Gould should be selector, and some young props need to earmarked now to do the job in 12 months. Until Price and Civo retire NSW are not winning a series

Price and Civo put it all over the NSW front row in every game this series. For two blokes in their mid-30's to dominate like that sends a very big kick up the arse to NSW. Point being, as you allude to, the need to earmark some young front rowers. The lack of decent props in NSW is alarming.

There is so much talk about Daley being the next NSW coach. Can I get Qld $1.50 for the 2009 series now? Please, somebody. Lasseters? Centrebet? Sportsbet? Acumen? Please

Johns was asked if he would consider being head coach if Bellamy stood down and he flatly said no. He said he was 4 or 5 years away from being ready for that.
The other name being bandied around is John Cartright.

I like your boys this weekend Battler, but geez, $1.89? Leave me out of that. Playing against a team that has won 6 in a row I was hoping for $2.10 or better.
I need to make my mind up about taking Penriff and the Dogs as well

I think Newcastle win if Buderus plays. If he is out, Dureau will play hooker and it becomes a coin flip. I don't read too much into St George's 6 in a row, the only decent side they have played in that run was Manly.
Like the look of Penriff as well - may play them off the stick.
Can't go near the Dogs - even against Souths.

It's not about the Dogs winning, but the Bunnies losing.
The Dogs cannot continue to be this bad. They lead the league in many of the wrong stats. They will regress to the mean sooner or later. Hopefully they do so this season, and what better place to start then against Russ' Rabble

My little margin syndicate are going to have a lash this week, jackpot is at $105k. I'm voting we leave the Dogs out completely, and if we happen to get to Monday I'll throw a heap at the Dogs ml to ensure a profit.
I'm facing resistance from my brother-in-law, who happens to be a tragic dogs fan.
