lots of basic errors by the Storm.  Geyer was horrible, coughed up the ball too many times and did almost nothing.  Sikamanu? was a beast near the end but Storm execution was horrible.  Only some good D stopped it from becoming a blowout.

MNF is no different then any other game and should be treated as such. You don't have to have a bet

as a qld'er there's no question who I want to win tonight but I can't help but compare the contrasting lead ups both teams have had for this game.

maroons with plenty of uncertainty re the fitness of lockyer & thurston and lockyer eventually pulling out vs a pretty smooth preparation for the blues

that coupled with the coaching of craig bellamy really has me thinking the blues will be extremely tough to beat tonight.

i still think the blues forward pack edges the maroons, especially with price only just back from a long term injury

i expect qld to start like a house on fire tonight but i'm not sure they grind it out over 80 minutes once the blues weather the early storm

And I agree with everything you have said. Price will have a calming influence on the Maroons pack, but the loss of Lockyer and rushed preparation of JT and Prince (as a combination) can't help their cause. I also think Simpson and Gidley only strengthen the Blues squad.

spot on, look, the books may have qld as favourites tonight, but i really think IF they do manage to win it will go down as one of THE great maroons victories due to the cricumstances we've all mentioned

it's asking a hell of a lot on the likes of prince and thurstan to steer home a winning team tonight, and they'll still need a dominant forward pack to do that

i wouldn't mind taking qld -4 if that bet was for the first 15 or 20 minutes only, but i really feel queensland's biggest challenge tonight is going the distance with a very deep and very settled blues 17 

personally i think the price for this game should be much closer to 1.90 each of two

only way i could be confident in qld as 4 point favourites is with a fully fit lockyer there and a fully fit price as well

Shouldn't matter. They played the Dogs without them last week who, fair enough aren't going real well, but aren't going any worse than this rabble.

Tate best player on the park, just ahead of Inglis

As I mentioned above, the Price/Civoniceva combo would be a big difference. Civo looked dead at the end, who are Penruff playing this week?

Prince showed why he never gets picked. A number of poor decisions and poor kicks. Lockyer on one leg will only improve them

NSW really need another real prop, a real psycho. I don;t think Kite or Bailey are the answer. They need someone who is just going to go out and hit the line hard every set. DESPERATELY need one.

If the NSW halves are Gidley/anyone or anyone/Bird then lock me into Qld at any price

Well, of course the NRL, in their Centennary year, would want a decider. But I won't go there, Queensland were by far the better side and thoroughly deserved their win. So, my attention turns to a disgruntled critique of the NSW side, admittedly written by a bitter backer of the Blues............
 
1. Field position - they got steamrolled. It was much discussed before the game that they only picked one specialist prop, and I think they got found out. The Queensland line was quick, but Fitzgibbon, Mason, Simpson et al are not front rowers. NSW lacked any authority against an inspired Qld pack.
 
2. Halves - it is hard to be critical of the halves when they play behind a dominated pack, but I thought Wallace and Bird offered very little tonight. The fact that NSW scored zip is as much testament to the ineffectiveness of the NSW playmakers as it is the effectiveness of the Qld defence. Greg Bird isn't an origin level second choice kicker, and Wallace's game as first choice kicker left a lot to be desired.
 
I think Wallace deserves to play game 3, but perhaps a change is needed at five-eigth to give the side a decent kicking game. At the risk of sounding like a homer, I'll nominate Mullen at 5/8, Bird back to lock, Gallen to second row and Mason to the bench. At least that will give the blues a left-foot, right-foot combination, plus Mullen's long kicking game is one of the better in the comp. NSW found the Qld fullback or winger on the full far too many times, and found themselves defending tackle 2 from the halfway line all night.
 
3. I hate to pick on a debutant, but in that first half Qld ran down Turner's wing all day and Inglis cut them to ribbons. At one point Turner was standing about 15 metres deeper than Gasnier, on about tackle 4, that led directly to a Qld try. I offer no suggestions who should field this role. Maybe Monaghan, or Hayne (even though he wouldn't have played prior).....
 
Fix the halves and add some mongrel up front, bring on game 3. 
 
 
And I didn't mention the officials.......

Battler, Anasta is a must. He can play the ball playing 5/8, the running 5/8,  monster kicking game and a great bomb.

Don't look at the ref, it was the same guy as game 1

Props? Cross? No. O'Meley? No. Kite? No. Bailey? No. Hate to say it but Ryles is the man. He will hit the line. Just put a rocket under him before the game and tell him to not attempt a pass all game and he will do the job. Bellamy will get him focused

Second, Anasta no. I'm not being an Anasta basher, I think this season has been his best, but he is too one dimensional and Qld would smother him. Mullen can launch as good as a bomb as that kid (or Carney for that matter).
 
As for the ref, I didn't blame him, but I'll aim a salvo at the video ref......you could at least be discreet about it.
 
Props....no idea. Cross isn't the answer, I think he has shown that he is solid at club level but cannot intimidate at rep level. O'Meley has done little for a long time. Ryles.....ahh, Ryles. The great big hope. He was touted as the next Chief, but has never quite lived up to it. Has been playng solid no doubt, and you can always count on him to give away the penalty, 30 out, right in front, tackle five, 80 seconds to go.

Has to be Anasta. As much as I would love to punch him in the mouth he is the reason the Roosters are going so well.

Would Jason Ryles be the same player if he had spent the last 5 years under Bennett or Bellamy and not Brown? Put Bellamy and Roach in his ear for 7 days and see what he can do.

They wont pick Ryles, you and I know it. But I agree the bloke lacked a good forward coach in his career.
