freeny's toe is supposed to bother him all season, mannings out, marvins out, so they def will not ride wayne. he'll be in for one series tops. maybe the skins use this game to get in tune with all those rookie wideouts. ill take the skins -4.5

watched some of the hall of fame induction ceremony last night and the crowd was flooded with skins fans. so i'm assuming the game would be the same way, which will help motivate the skins and also help these young guys ease into the nfl.
Pick: skins

I posted this elsewhere on Friday. But would still take it at +4.5
5* INDIANAPOLIS +6, +100 over Washington
This line is pretty bad. The oddsmakers are accounting for the fact
that new coaches "want to win" and the fact that Dungy has been
terrible the last 3 years in the pre-season with no Peyton Manning.
First off, the Colts have no Manning but have a wide open race for the
2nd and 3rd QB spots with Jim Sorgi, Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen, all
who have significant NFL pre-season experience. The Washington QB
rotation consists of Jason Campbell, Todd Collins and Colt Brennan.
Colt Brennan will be getting his first does ever of NFL Pre-season
speed here. The new coaches want to win theory is semi-true, HOWEVER,
it is more true for new coaches taking over moribound teams who have
missed the playoffs the last few years. They have to work on winning a
fan base back in the pre-season. The Redskins were a veteran playoff
team last year and now you have a new coach coming in and installing a
brand new system with veteran players who have already won with the old
system. Will they be picking up this new system for the first game in
just 8 days of training camp. I doubt it. Reports out of Washington
camp was that Todd Collins is having trouble picking up the system
early on because he played in the same exact system under Al Saunders
the past 8 years. The dog in any game involving a VIRGIN NFL head coach
is 27-13-1 ATS in the last 41 tries simply because of this reason.
Virgin head coaches that are dogs are usually taking over bad teams and
do their best to instill customer confidence from the get go. Virgin
head coaches that are favs are usually taking over better veteran teams
and have trouble installing a new system for the team right away. Colts
have the better QB rotation, the same system and a little history on
the side. I am jumping out with a top rated play on this one.

Im taking the Colts +4- and not from a square point of view. At first look Washington appeared to be the play for me as I know bad teams usually tend to play harder in preseason than teams expected to do well and also since the former redskins went in the hall of fame alot of guys feel that is reason enough to back Washington also the new coach factor has many others liking Washington as well. But for me its still preseson and rookies will be on both sides of the ball and everyone is playing for a spot, so it comes down to who has been better coached so far in the camp and QB rotation, Sorgi has never really had a shot to do that well since Manning is the man - but he has more experience than the other guys and it comes down to ball control and I think he makes fewer mistakes today than say a Brennan.

Football is back! Playing it safe and small with an 8pt. tease Skins +3.5 over 23. Defense usually has the advantage early in the preseason, but I have a gut feeling that there will be a little more scoring in this game.
The preseason is a shot in the dark, but if you read teams' local news you can get an idea of the leanings of the coach and who he will play and for how long.

Hunted..I apologize my friend..I did not mean to overlook you! Great to see you too, coverditty! Let's get after 'em this year, fellas!!
Weathered...good to see you on these threads ...I read all your posts on the other thread and you ALWAYS make a ton of sense! I am guessing you did great at baseball this year...I should have played on baseball but it is such a daily GRIND and I spent most of my summer at the gym...
I am going to take it very light and easy on NFL Preseason, fellas...I will tease and do s/up bets only...as the regular season arrives, I will be a lot more adventurous...I am going to TRY to be more cautious and conservative this year (yeah...right!! LOL)..and just make a couple of units every weeks (the quintessential "death by a thousand cuts") ..
Good luck on your plays, everyone...I don't think it will be a real exciting game but it will be fun to watch anyway!

I like Indy a lot think they probably win outright. Gladly take Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen playing QB the 2nd half instead of Colt Brennan/ Derek Devine.

I like under in this game. Both teams missing alot of big guns in this game with Colts sitting Manning and Harrison and the bread and butter of the Redskins their running game resting Portis and Betts. Redskins should be pressing hard for competive game under new coach, Colts they don't put alot in these games, and with the new roster limit rules, teams will be trying to get out with their health. I'm going to play the under 32 in this game. I have a 4 TD and 1 FG cushion with alot of firepower on the bench. Under 32 Good Luck to all and welcome back football!

The play tonight looks to be OVER for me. ===================================== I think the defenses are going to be on the short side tonight. Both defenses will have trouble keeping points off the board with major players sitting on both sides. Not to mention the Skins who will be operating with new schemes etc in lieu of the changes in coaching staff.
Colts players recovering from injuries who won't play Sunday, DE Dwight Freeney, safety Bob Sanders and
linebackers Gary Brackett and Tyjuan Hagler. Colts Defensive line thin with the retirement of Quinn Pitcock. Raheem Brock, a 27-game starter at
tackle the past two seasons, has been moved to left end in the base
defense and apparently will remain there even with Pitcock's decision.
For the Skins Pro Bowl left tackle Chris Samuels, starting middle linebacker London
Fletcher and newly acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor will
not play. The Redskins are being cautious with cornerback Carlos Rogers and
linebacker Rocky McIntosh, both of whom are coming back from
season-ending knee surgery, and neither will play
QB's
Jim Sorgi (1st Q), Quinn Gray, Jared Lorenzen, Adam Tafarlis.
Jason Campbell (1-2 series), Todd Collins (2nd Q), rookie Colt Brennan (3rd Q), rookie Sam Hollenbach.
I expect these guys can put some points on the board especially in the first half.
Good luck everyone (unless you are on the UNDER!)
