Give me the Grizz in this matchup!
I know what you're all thinking. Cocknocker has lost his mind.
And to tell you the truth, I probabl have lost my mind. I am going to take advantage of the Grizzlies playing well enough to beat the Kings last night, and for them to continue their good play for just one more game against the suddenly red-hot Sixers.
Already the spread went down from Philly-10 to -9, which is a good sign for my play.
The Grizzlies are a thrown together team but they do have a little pride about themselves, and they are very guard rich. Shooters are abound on this team with Miller, Gay and company. They have excellent penetrators in Conley and Crittenden, and role players Collins and Cardinal. No egos on this team. Just a team trying to play as hard as they can.
The SIxers are in a very difficult position to cover against the Grizzlies, having won and covered in 4 straight coming in, and overall having gone 7-1 ats in their last 8 contests.
The funny thing is that Memphis just has their number, and a lot of the same players are there that created a streak of 5-1 ats when the Grizz are playing at Philly. matter of fact, a lot of the same Philly players are there that played during that streak too. The tuth is it's just too easy to take the Sixers in this matchup. They are not an elite team, they are a third tier team tht suddenly got hot, and benefacted from favorable spreads against teams like injury riddled Dallas, a tired Clippers team on the Grammy road trip), Miami (which shouldn't have counted because the trade hadn't happend yet) and Washington (decimated with injuries). So Philly has caught some suspect teams at opportunistic times. Now they are the prohibitive favorite, and I say that they won't respond well to being an almost double digit favorite.
Philly has not been favored by this many points over Memphis since 2001, when they were favored over the Grizzlies by 10, and promptly lost by 6 to the Grizz 93-87! Philly has never covered a spread of this magnitude against the Grizzlies in the history of the franchise.
The Grizzlies are too young and stupid to figure out that they are supposed to lay down in this game. I say that they play well enough to come up with the ats shocker for me in this position.
