Boston's primary defensive objective has been to stop James, and the Celtics have done so with relative ease. Sometimes, their big men - Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, James Posey and Leon Powe - blitz James on double-teams and other times they back off and force him to the wing. Wherever he goes, a green-and-white jersey - or two - is in pursuit.
very good post... about actual basketball...
when the Bos-Atl series ended i said Atlanta is a better team than Cleveland and Boston will wipe Cleveland out quickly... these next 2 games are going to show people a lot...
last year my entire profit in the NBA playoffs came down to 2 bets... i bet Cleveland to reach the NBA finals when the playoffs started last year, and then swiftly turned around and bet on SA to beat them in the championship... the point is... lots of people saying things like "the Cavs did make it to the finals last year", and think that means something... it means nothing... no team has ever had an easier road to the finals than Cleveland had last year, and arguably no team representing the finals has ever been more of a patsy pretender than the Cavs last year...
this is a completely different story this year... this year we have a TRUE finals representative going from the East, and it IS the Celtics... what we are seeing is one of the great defensive teams the NBA has ever seen, rivaled recently by only the Bulls dynasty... and they may be better than that when they get a year or two under their belt together...
KG and Pierce have always been two of the most under appreciated dominant players in the game, and they are the star-power of the team... but its the role players like Perkins and Rondo and Posey and Rowe and Cassell and PJ Brown... those guys are all filling the rolls that are essential on championship teams...
Lebron is the shit... but by himself no player will ever stand even a remote chance against a dominant team... Atlanta had a better chance (none really) because they were a more athletic and more hungry team... Cavs are a dead stick...
you guys think Lebron is in a slump???
NO! it's called being shut down, and right now it is way too easy for Boston...
if you think Boston will take one in Cleveland, like i do, bet the Celts tonight, and if they lose, win it back in game 4... worst case scenario you break even, but you have a good chance of taking game 3... no-lose scenario...
Celts - Lakers is a virtual inevitability... gonna be intense!
