There's more than one type
of democracy, and not all of them are majoritarian. The violent
disenfranchisement of blacks in the South played a role as well.
I guess the exploitation of minority labor will be called something else in Rand's alternative social order.

I think this is the article that they refer to in the article you posted.
DJ, has made me realize that if I am going to support this guy, then I need to do my homework, and find out what he has every day for lunch.
I do not think that Amnesty is the answer, and I think that the current bill is nothing but amnesty with shady riders, and 24 pounds of obfuscation. I will be very disappointed if Rand Paul signs off on a shady-A$$ bill, in some attempt to garner the support of new Mexican voters. (not New Mexican voters)
I think that it is savvy politically, especially if Rubio runs with him, but I will still be very disappointed.

You are right, Rand Paul is distrustful of Democracy, you should actually read the article. Seriously.
I admit that rand Paul is the only current person I would like to see become president. He is in the state next door, and I am going to join the campaign, as I did for his father.

Rand is merely selling the candy you like, he is like all other politicians in the games he plays, the favorites he has and sucking at the trough like all the others.
Funny how you blindly worship the guy and ignore the obvious..he is absolutely no different than any other politician (same goes for his father).

I guess I will agree to disagree. I am not going to defend them being "phony" or not. I suspect that it is somewhat of a pre-requisite for being a politician.
I am not saying the guy is infallible, I am not saying I prescribe to all of his ideals. I am not Don Juan
I think it is funny you can stand all of the self righteous indignation of democrats when they are on their high horse against gun owners or against the tea party etc.

There are positions that I agree with MORE on the DEM side and I often give my "worst case" position, but to me it is not party related..my views are mine and I am not affiliated with any party.

DJ, can you link me to where he has promoted federal laws that illustrate what you pointed out. I know he did not support the defense of marriage and called it a losing issue, while echoing Obama's notion that state marriage laws should be decided at the state level. I have also heard him speak out against the drug war and promote decriminalization.
Maybe I am reading different stuff. Help me out.

I think I mentioned this before but I voted neither for a variety of reasons.
Irregardless of my affiliation there is no way I would vote for Romney and I am no fan of Obama either..
You stated above that, "the underlying issue isn't which politicians you like, because all are corrupted and part of a poisoned system."
Since you did not vote in the last 2012 presidential election, your statement has much more credibility. And unfortunately, I share this same dim view of our government, and thus, I also sat on the sidelines for the 2012 election.
Also, it is a crime that our government can freely spend the US citizen's taxpayer money, yet we have no say so on how those funds are doled out. And I am sure most Americans like myself are not too happy that a substantial amount of this money is going directly to Muslims in the Middle East.

C'mon. You're like the most well-versed person in West Virginia. Just google Rand Paul and war on drugs.

I honestly don't know why he would attempt to court the evangelical community.
They are not likely to vote for a democrat.
I hope that he does not pursue any of the things you are talking about. When he supported Mitt Romney over his father, it was clear that he was a much better politician than his father.
I know he has to pay certain lip service to the Neo-Cons and the Evangelicals, but I honestly believe that he is not one of them.
I do not think he would support federal legislation cracking down on drugs or gays.
Maybe I am being naïve, but I think a Rand Paul presidency is light years better than Bush, Obama, Clinton or Clinton, or any of the stooges the GOP puts up. I think that he is light years better than Romney or McCain.
But to be fair, Obama ran the first time on some great ideals, and look what happened to him.
It is going to take being let down by Rand Paul for me to just throw my hands up, stop voting and attempt to accept the shabby shape of our country and do nothing about it. Like Wallstreet Cappers.

Why would you say Wall is doing nothing about it. He voted, just not for either. There is nothing wrong with that. I have more concerns about people that simply don't vote. There is a candidate out there for anyone and like you said, you may not like all of someone's views but you trust them.
Getting to that...you, nor I have any idea what RP would do. We know he opposes abortion, we know he has made it clear he is not ending the war on drugs, and we know he opposes same sex marriage. Generally speaking, one's viewpoint shapes advocacy and the President wields huge power.
Even if he did not support a federal law, he could influence the states with fundraising, support, judicial appointments, etc.
