This economic conversation is turning into a political conversation.

There are 15 political threads out there but does ANYBODY here know jack squat about economics?

Be Easy, you are being too hard on the Government.

what are you, an alien from outer space? How can you be too hard on the 'gov't' ? They are our elected officials, supposed to be for our best interests. Over the course of most politicians tenure, how much time on avg. do you think they spend protecting their interests? their funders interests? our interests?

I'd say it looks like %80/%70? which leaves us for about negative one half of their time protecting the peoples interest, so basically, while protecting their own causes, they use half their time to FUCK US OVER

Number one, look at the motivation before judgement day. If you ask me, EVERYBODY in politics needs daily box. It's an attention thing........... Sure, we all need attention and Shrimp needs triple attention but when you boil this shit down.........

Somebody has to interpret and cut the bullshit.

you want to talk economics, check out what Japan did to prop it's housing bubble, and the result, because we are mimicking their decisions, and the interconnections of markets tied to housing will cause one hell of a domino effect where everything falls. "The Economy" is way bigger than Obama, and his future admin. and whatever plans they conjure up, so if you want to talk about fairy tale shit that doesn't matter, keep talking to yourself. you want to get educated about some real economic shit, scroll back up to the top and read my four posts starting at 537

Speaking of things rarely credited to the source of recent economic volatility, i don't know if i've ever heard anyone attribute anything to Peak Oil? Exasperated new discoveries, limited potential for further growth, and an end game. yeah, i guess thats alot to grasp. not that i know anything, just sayn

The case here is not the housing bubble but the fucking dead economy bubble. Values have "dipped", no doubt, but that's just a commodity thing.

Commodities go up and down.

The BIG issue is why small dips in commodities rock our boats.

Housing values are DIRECTLY equated to economic values.

If people ain't working, and/or get laid off, then they lose.

Meanwhile, the market cannot absorb all this shit because the ECONOMY is not growing.

This is NOT an economic cycle. This is an ACCUMULATION of these mofo GOP uneducated dipshit Brittney Spears Low Taxes GOP bullshit.

nothing could be further from the truth . look as to WHY our economy is dead. people spend future money with credit, and for years all of this growth came from the huge unprecedented boom in housing, and everything tied to it. Housing goes bust, starts a domino effect, because everything is connected

Housing is the SCAPEGOAT here.

The REAL problem is we don't have any money. Housing values drop 10-30 percent and everybody FREAKS???

Good Lord, don't open your portfolio statement this year.

The ULTRA, ULTRA, ULTRA, big picture is that the Average American ain't got no coin, or balance sheet to deal with it.

The housing bubble is a REFLECTION on the current state of the economy but NOT the cause.

c'mon shrimo, you are arguing my point for me. overvalued housing isn't something the market can just absorb. fundamentally, housing prices are tied directly to wages, which were stagnant as hell while house prices climbed exponentially. i've quoted Greenspans thesis before, says something along the lines of ' there is no perpetual motion machine which generates an ever-rising path for the prices of houses'. they can't just go up forever, unless you want ot inflate the value of all other goods. The value of housing in the US depends a lot on the value of what the US actually produces. which currently is about nothing worth nothing. strangely housing prices have gone up up up. doesn't make any sense, which brings us to wherre wwe are today

This problem was purposely created by the ppl who run the FedReserve.....cash as we know it will one day dissappear as we become more electronic we'll get duped into using credit cards or some other futuristic device, then we're all going to believe theres value behind these digits on a screen...and we're forced to have chip implants in our bodies....Barack to the Future here we come...How are we supposed to eliminate debt? Eliminate money!

This has been quite the election. As retired military I hope his advisors lead him in the right direction. As the father of bi-racial children i'm glad that they were old enough to see history. As a Virginia voter i was disappointed that all local tv covered was the "it's not the color of his skin election" but each person generally said it's was the color of his skin that brought them out to vote. It is time for a change in america. It's been happening. Women will be president some day. I really didn't care for either running this year...but I will be supportive. It still my country until you take it from me. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo..........................

Alan Greenspan played a big part, by encouraging more easy credit, and lowering interest rates.

cycles? I think we're on a gradual uphill climb called inflation...we handle it by working more so we can pay more and its always going to be like that...we cant escape paying taxes...cant stop buying things ppl cant afford all bcoz americans are all about self esteem...we're searching for gradification from something with no meaning and no real value.

with all the money the govt bailout is supposed to do...20bil out of 700+bil can eliminate hunger in this country....but they dont do that do they?
