so going through the old "al sharpton routine" playing the victim/discrimination card really isnt needed...
it is a comedy show called saturday night live...
and as far as I know they make fun of every little thing anyone does....
are you saying that they only do sketches about GOPers and not obama or clinton?
I remember phil hartman did a good clinton impersonation... but often times hillary was the one being parodied and made fun of every little thing she did...

I still dont get why it is even something to make fun of....
unless it has to do with having a dry mouth... which is a classic reaction for someone that is nervous and is having difficulty under pressure... probably not a good quality for a leader of a nation...
the dry mouth can be a obvious tell...
either that or he is smoking weed...

So television programming is not the media? that is a new one on me. I will have to call my journalism and mass media teachers from college and tell them they have it all wrong.
I have not seen very many Obama sketches. I have seen a few Biden ones, I can't recall a Hillary Clinton sketch.
Either way. They stretched beyond belief to find a funny in the Rubio water thing. It is just strange to me when there is so much low hanging fruit from the Obama admin.
And I think we can agree that SNL being on NBC (which gets government money) is much more friendly to a Liberal perspective than a Conservative one.

I guess when I was referring to media I meant the press...
but in your definition you are correct... like a painting of obama is media right? or any depiction of him...
I dont watch SNL regularly, but if you google obama SNL sketches there seem to be many out there.... I think I saw one about biden once where he was jealous of not getting attention...
The hillary sketches I refer to were in the 1990s during bill's presidency... if you have netflix, I think you would enjoy the ones during desert storm during one term president Bush's term... funny to watch cheney, rumsfeld and others portrayed back then...
I would agree that conservatives might be made fun or more, but this may be based on the capitalism of TV in that sketches about "fox and friends" are just plain funnier and get better ratings... although I believe I saw a sketch about msnbc programming also...
So I do not think that that getting government money is a factor because if not then NBC would have favored GW bush and conservatives during his time... perhaps they did... I wasnt really watching...
But I do agree with you on the rubio water thing being a stretch.... but so much so that I dont know what they are stretching at... were they making fun of rubio? or were they making fun of how people made fun of rubio?
Thats why I made the thread because I did not get it...
what do you think?

I think that NBC is completely in the bag for the DNC. They got money during the bailout so I am not sure that previous admins have paid them off.
I think that if someone came up with a seriously funny and biting sketch that could hurt the Obama administration as much as te Sarah Palin sketches hurt McCain's chances at the presidency they would be edited or not aired. I wholeheartedly believe that they would not do that to a Democrat.
Maybe it is what their viewership wants, but I for one have stopped watching after years of loving SNL because they are so politically biased.
I suppose that I would watch it if I thought that it were a little more even in their lampooning, but I don't. They may have 1 or 2 sketches making fun of liberals, but I think during the election it was completely disproportionately anti GOP.

I never take SNL too seriously... so biased or not, it never bothered me... as an independent, I really dont take sides or worry too much about sides...
I understand about the money trail, but I dont think that necessarily is the reason for the bias you seem to be talking about... I just think that making fun of "palin" or "fox and friends" is funnier and better ratings... you say this on family guy, madtv, etc during the bush years... they did not make fun of bush because they had some hairbrained idea of an insidious liberal agenda as the enemy within... but instead they made fun of GW because of what he said and how he acted made good comedy...
I think you are getting the msnbc agenda confused with nbc... It would be like saying the fox "news" agenda must be present in all of their comedy shows because they are the fox network...
Like would you say that the simpsons, probably the longest running show on the fox network is simply a mouth piece for the fox "news" agenda?
when it comes to SNL, perhaps this also has to do the audience that is probably up late, enjoying life, wanting something light hearted...
rather than a bitter, angry, bigoted, paranoid presentation of why obama is a terrorist that you have been seen as core talking points for 5 years now...
I watched a some reruns a while back during the OJ trial and it could be said that the liberal stance on that would be insist he is innocent, but SNL on some many levels, some times numerous times in one show take the opposite of the liberal stance that OJ was innocent... in fact as I remember it, they NEVER took a liberal stance on OJ...
