Interesting, I shout out to 'Darryl' and you are the only one to respond.
If you had no correlation to "Darryl" you wouldn't feel compelled to answer.
Let me quote the bottom of Darryl's myspace page.
Obama, Obama, and Obama! He is a true inspiration to Americans world wide>Justin Bieber and Obama....NICE!
Ummm what?
so you weren't referring to me with ta darryl name calling that you do repeatedly needle and bash on threads where you are getting owned?
a yes or no answer will suffice...
Also what is this myspace page Lie?
What are you even talking about?
sounds like you make up a myspace page only so you can try to pin more lies on me to argue against... typical bobslit...
why is it that only the "circle jerk crew" call me darryl and talk about this fictional myspace page?
Covers knows
Show me once on this site where I ever agreed with Obama's plan for gun control?
this should be good...
I would predict crickets... but Im thinking bail outs, childish games and insults because you have proven unable to have a civil discussion with me one on one with out having an obama like meltdown...

what I have been specifically advocating the whole time in my posts since last year
I am happy with the outcome...
Rick do you agree with my stance that no change should be made as an the emotional reaction to the shootings?
Or are you more on the lets make huge changes in arming kindergarden teachers with assault rifles?
I am starting to wonder if I am in the minority of people that take a true conservative stance of no changes... as a opposed the more guns/less guns polarization...
perhaps I am the only one on the forum that believes in the conservative way of thinking and acting about this issue to advocate for no change needed....
interested to hear what you think
Well, by definition when you beat legislation nothing happens.
That is the point.
No bells and whistles pop out to congratulate you, preservation of liberty happens, and that is not really a quantifiable thing.
You don't notice the air in the room til it is gone.
ergo you wouldn't notice an effort that stopped the air from being taken out of the room.

IT is kind of like the FBI investigating crimes that do not pertain to interstate commerce, you know that it is mostly illegal, but you don't really say anything.

Club,
I am not sure that they are.

Umm that myspace page was created well before I had deduced that you are cover's closet liberal.
And I have civil discussions with every other member but you and your buddy stiln.
Besides, how was I supposed to know you were a big fan of Justin Bieber?
here we go again... typical bowslit...
because you cant engage in a civil discussion you have to engage in childish games, insults and fabricating lies to argue against...
Its funny to listen to you and the other "usual suspects" keep talking about this fictional myspace page because you know that you cant back up your BS...
Try and back this one up...

To me this is what a conservative approach to the issue would have been...
This is the conservative approach I was advocating the whole time... not making rash, impulsive, knee jerk reactions in an emotional manner to try to feel better regardless of the practical world outcomes...
it is too bad the GOP/teaparty/rightwing chose to act like liberals pushing their own agenda based on emotion rather then advocating a conservative approach...
Seems like 21st century history shows us that the GOP/teaparty/rightwing choosing to act like liberals as their default strategy has not worked for them... and in the end not good for the country...
I mean if they would act/think in a conservative manner who the heck will?

“Democrats enjoy a supermajority in the Illinois House of Representatives, holding 71 seats to the GOP’s 47. On Wednesday, the same day the US Senate voted down gun control legislation, powerful Democrat Speaker Michael Madigan tried to push a restrictive gun control measure through his chamber. The result was an open revolt by downstate Democrats, with almost half the Democrat caucus joining the GOP to kill the measure. The bill went down 31-76, a rare defeat for the legendary Madigan.”

You don't say anything because it benefits you.
Nowhere in the 2nd Amendment does it place any restriction on the ownership of firearms. Nowhere does it say that a convicted violent felon can't openly carry a firearm into a middle-school.
But no sane person is going to argue that such a right is protected by the 2nd Amendment. That is my point.
If one wants to debate the effectiveness (or not) of gun control measures, I can see the argument. But taking the absolutist position that the 2nd Amendment forbids the restrictions is hypocritical.
I hate to say it, but Daroad is a goog example of this. I rarely see him invoke the 2nd A but he does cite articles and stats (which I don't usually agree with).

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that 85% of gun owners support universal background checks and 88% of Americans support them.
They broke it down by certain states as well:
Florida, March 21, 91 – 8 percent support, including 88 – 11 percent among gun owners Connecticut, March 6, 93 – 6 percent support, including 89 – 9 percent among gun owners Ohio, March 1, 90 – 8 percent, including 86 – 12 percent among gun owners Pennsylvania, January 30, 95 – 5 percent, including 95 – 4 percent among gun owners; New Jersey, January 24, 96 – 3 percent, including 95 – 5 percent among gun owners Virginia, January 10, 92 – 7 percent, including 91 – 7 percent among gun owners.

I'm a firm believer that people kill people, not guns. So I see background checks as a reasonable step to keeping guns in the hands of people who should have them. I am unconvinced that the defeat of this measure was in any way a victory for the the 2nd amendment. It was a simply hack political job.

So because you say they are lies make it so? What about internet sales or gun shows? Do they require any form of background checks?
They are lies. How do we know this?
Well the violent crime rate is at a 50 year low in America. Criminals do not have "willy nilly access to guns" Nobody with a modicum of knowledge on the topic would say any such thing.
Further, it isn't legal in America to sell a gun to someone over the Internet. Further, FFL's run background checks when someone purchases a firearm and has it shipped to an FFL for purchase (the only legal approach to buying a firearm over the Internet in America)
It is interesting and instructive that you never stop to wonder if these things you read on left wing Internet sites are true. Especially in light of the fact that the violent crime rate is historically low.

To put it another way, it's silly to conclude that because one poll found 90%
support for "background checks," that translates into a like level of
support for this particular piece of legislation.

It's also not legal for criminals to have guns but they do. As for sales over the internet you think it doesn't happen? Check craigslist sometime or one of the other wonderful sights such as armslist. Just what percentage of transactions do you think go through a background check? Maybe if you stopped watching fox and listening to the right wing agenda thrown out by the whackjobs there you'd see the light.

Straw man. Note: as I said, this is already illegal. You wanted a piece of legislation to make it - illegal, illegal.
Just what percentage of transactions do you think go through a background check?
Since you're the one presuming this is some sort of problem, why don't you tell us? Further, this is the wrong question, since the real concern is: "What percentage of transaction that do not go through a background check lead to a crime"? Maybe if you stopped watching fox and listening to the right wing agenda thrown out by the whackjobs there you'd see the light
Nice projection. Note: When I discuss this topic I reference federal and state laws, and actual statistics.
You post links to polls and left wing Web sites.

I don't know DJ, I believe that taking the right to own firearms from felons works for our society, that is why it is not challenged, but I think that if we believe that as a society we should make an amendment.
