I have a question for many in this forum...especially those like Apache who are Vets and Republican/Conservatives..and very much Patriots....
 
If General Colin Powell...a true war hero, leader, respected foreign affairs expert..and the man that represented George Bush Jr's lie to the world at the United Nations as the Secretary of State...
 
...endorses Barack Obama on Meet The Press tomorrow morning, would that change your thoughts about backing Barack Obama...
 
Would you feel that men like Warren Buffet and General Powell advising Obama would convince you that it's not just the President..BUT THE PRESIDENCY that is important.
 
Or, and to be honest here, would you feel..in the back of your head...that this is a racially-motivated endorsement...and, as such, you would still not be able to vote for Obama.

I don't think he is going to endorse Obama.

If he does - depeche2 is spot on. The wingnuts will throw him under the bus.

I have much respect for Colin Powell. Would never trash him whatever he decided to do.
 
Its obvious with the all the left wing media that the true world powers that hold the government puppet strings want us to vote Obama/Biden. That alone tells me I shouldnt vote with the puppets...but I digress.
 
Ive always thaught that I've had a better than avg ability to judge people. I've been able to avoid bad people in my life based on their first impression that in retrospect turned out to be not so great people.
 
Im not going to say Obama is downright EVIL but I will say there are many things about him that set my spider senses off.
 
Not to mention the fact that Obama wants to redistribute our wealth and do away with Trickle down economics which I believe works based on the facts and figures I've seen.
 
Our country has the second highest Corperate Tax rate in the world and you think its not high enough?

Could I have some clarification of that in relationship to the
Bush Administration?....I honestly don't understand that comment.
 
Another question....."trickle down" would mean, literally, that Warren Buffet, who just passed Bill Gates as the wealthiest person in America, and who is the senior financial advisor to Barack Obama, would see to it that his money, and those that he influences, would "trickle down" to us......
 
Would that not be another reason to support Barack Obama...the fact that "trickle down" would start with his top financial advisor?

nice Republican talking point BUT most profitable corporations are paying NO Federal tax because the code has so many LOOPHOLES that they can avoid paying anything.
 
as for General Colin Powell, I sure HOPE he endorses Obama on Meet the Press. I will "betcha" IF he does, one of his reasons will be having "Caribou Barbie" the heartbeat of a 72 year old cancer survivor away form the Presidency.
 
btw, I would STILL vote for the General IF he ever ran for President. he's what I remember Republicans USED to be. IF he would have run in 1996, I'm sure he would have won and this once great country probably wouldn't be in the economic and foreign affairs mess we are in now.

Sure, As for the puppet strings...that would be the same people that control oil prices. Secondagain can tell you who that is.
 
I would assume that Bill Gates made most of his money 10-12 years ago. Not hard for me to believe Warren Buffet passed him. WB prolly invests more that BG. I admit I dont know. Bill Gates trickled down large amounts of money in the last 12-13 years.
 
I never said that other economic strategies dont work I just said I believe trickle down works better IMHO.
 
Bush barely was elected in 2000 because the Left wing media was not as powerful or slanted as it is now.

OPC, If Powell endorses McCain will that change YOUR mind?

If the answer is no, I suggest that neo-cons opinions will also not be changed

  I like and respect Colon Powell on things that are military. he was not suited for the Secretary of State position. imo.
 
  President Bush made a wrong choice in placing him in that slot.He should have been our Secretary of Defense not Donald H. Rumsfeld,and the War in Iraq would have take a much different course..
 
  So if Powell were advising Obama on matters effecting military matters it would be important to me. Gen Colon Powell has proven that he is a true American hero and thinks about his discisions....

As to Powell's endorsement...should he endorse McCain, then John McCain will be the next President....As I have said in terms that we all on Covers.com should understand.....
 
My vote FOR Obama is more a "fade" of McCain.....Being forced to select Sarah Palin (and I have offerred a number of women in the Republican party that, if chosen by McCain, would have changed my mind)....is the one overriding concern...much more than economic policies, healthcare issues, education....much more..

The banks wouldnt have to worry about a run taking place if the ACORN/ Bill Clinton phlyosophy of giving loans to people that couldnt afford them was never in place. Be careful how you lay the blame for the financial mess were in. Ask Senator Countrywide and Franklyn Raines what role they played in this.
 
And Ive never said Obama is EVIL in any of my posts...Ive just said that I dont trust him and stuff like that.
 
Can anyone tell me what Obamas REAL stance on Gun control is?

...And, the reason that Warren Buffet passed Bill Gates was the 5Trillion decline in the market.......He passed him a week ago...
 
...also, could I have that answer about "who controls the oil"...and curious about how those who control the oil are connected to Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
 
I have a fairly extensive knowledge of George Bush Sr and George Bush Jr once they settled in Texas from New England and those who supported them for public office...as well as their very strong relationship over the years with the Saudis.....
 
So, as you can see, I would be curious as to the Obama connection to oil.....

I never said Obama had the connection to oil. I just said that the people that control the oil prices and the media want Obama to win the election.
 
I worded some of the other part wrong. I meant to say that I believe BG made most of his money not in the last 5-6 years. Starting when Windows first came out.

Powell was disqualified from serving as Secy of Defense.  Must be retired from military for 10 years.  He would be qualified now.

I would vote for Colin Powell no matter which Party he ran for, I wish he was a candidate this year.  I respect him but would vote against Obama no matter who endorses him.  It is Mr. Powell's right to endorse his candidate of choice but I hate to think he would join the other 96% and for the same reason.

If Powell endorses Obama, you really think it will be because he's black and not because he believes he is the best man for the job?  Despite your earlier statement, that would indicate a rather low opinion of Powell's character.

OK, OPC Bill Gates and his wealth have little to do with the discussion.
 
Colin Powells endorsement will not change my mind on my endorsement for the Republican party. Which in most years is a Fade on the democratic party. This year I trust "That one" very little so the Fade isnt as strong this time. I voted for Bill Clinton in 92 and 96.
 
We all know that in the Grand scheme of things both parties are just puppets for the world bankers and such. I used to hear the Rockefellers name in connection but havent stayed current as to the current names for these puppeteers.
 
Fact is that MOST of the media is pulling for Obama. That to me raises yet another FLAG about him.

As to "puppets"....you would have to include John McCain who was part of the single biggest (at the time) bank failure in the history of our country because he permitted Charles Keating to "pull his strings".....
 
I am not quite certain what you mean when you say "MOST of the media"......In terms of the 3 cable news networks....
 
...FOX News consistently gets higher ratings...more viewers..than does MSNBC....and CNN outdraws them both. If you consider CNN to be liberal media, that would be a mistake....and, while very right conservatives would disagree with that statement, the reality is that CNN is extremely centrist.

Back in 92 I was 21 and not as politically aware as I am now. I mostly voted for Clinton because my wife was a hyper-liberal. Even in hindsight I still would have voted for Clinton though.

In 92 I didnt understand the major issues fully that set the Republicans and Democrats appart. I have a much better understanding now and thats why I am a Republican.

I also had the Iraq war in 2003 that I fully still believe in that showed me the true colors of the Democratic party. I believe anyone that can understand what Saddam was doing to his people and neighboring countries and turn a blind eye to it is a coward and heartless. Even soldiers that went over there are saying that he needed to be taken out. If you disagree with me on that point you lose respect fast with me.
