if you live in the northeast...say within 50-70 miles of new york city, how much do you think a married couple with a house, kids, etc needs to earn to be comfortable?

250k in iowa is much different than 250k in NJ or CT

 

you really must be living in a coma if you think the trickle down theroy works.  It has never worked and never will work.  Biggest scam pulled on the American people.  Guys like you just havent realized it yet.  In case you havent noticed all these companies that have been given the tax breaks have still moved their jobs overseas.  If you want to give these companies tax breaks then they need to make sure the jobs stay here.  They cant have both.

Next why is it all of you diehard republicans keep talking about Obama taxing you to death, yet not one single one of you will address how McCain is going to pay for all his things.  You all just keep ignoring the fact that McCain is going to pound the middle class to death with tax hikes.  Am sorry KOAJ but the same way you dont want to get taxed, neither do any of us in the middle class.  Truth is i dont want to pay higher taxes so rich business owners like yourself can skate paying crap. So thats what it boils down to, both guys are gonna raise taxes thats a no brainer only differnec in each guy is who is gonna get hit with the higher taxes.

Guys like you are just mad because the free ride is coming to an end and the middle class is not going to be paying your share anymore.  Well i dont feel sorry for you, so yes go out today and make some more money and start paying your share instead of riding on our backs.  I guess you will have to scale back on taking 6 vacations a year down to 4

All i have heard on this board from republicans is total fear mongering everyday.  Obama is going to tax you to death and the world is gonna end, blah blah blah.
People in the middle class sure did have alot more cash when Clinton was in office, thats a fact.  No deficit and all the entitlement programs were funded, amazing.
Sorry 8 years of torture is enough, 4 more years of this type of leadership will bury this country so far we will never be able to bounce back from it.  McCain will completely wipe out the middle class and people will become slaves to all these business owners who will just walk all over all of us.

kenny - it started in earnest under FDR, then blew up under LBJ's Great Society. the only things you are entitled to in this country are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. government is the problem, not the solution for almost anything

cd - i dont know any any politician pays for anything. i do know mccains will ask for a freeze on most agencies. obama is floating 1T in new spending, not counting the Global Poverty Act. the little that is left of the "rich" tax base after this mkt correction will be tapped out

the taxpayer cant take it anymore...so the taxpayer will start sheltering money or just not earning as much since the investor class is under attack. if i can move money to keep myself in a lower tax bracket i would do it in a heartbeat as would anyone else who has a good FA. where are obama's revenues now?

raising taxes kills jobs and forces companies to set up HQ overseas to stay competitive. if you dont believe it, wait until obamanomics gets passed and you will see for yourself

fwiw - not a republican, im a conservative for fiscal matters...everything else i dont care, i just dont want to be stuck with the bill. fair enough?

if you give more money to poorer/middle class people you will get it RIGHT BACK.


They don't save shit, they get their check and spend it right away.  Everything from food to Flat-screen TV's.  Thats money that goes DIRECTLY into the lifeblood of the economy (generally speaking).


The investor class has plenty of money they have been hoarding for years (over-seas banks, tax shelters) by looting the Nations treasury (tax revenue) and now they are trying to turn PRIVATE DEBT into PUBLIC DEBT at the expense of the nation.

There is a huge catch.

 

Let me make some things clear. The $250M is based on Net Profit. I believe people are getting Net Profit and Sales confused.  

 

The problem with this is that most business already show nothing on their taxes. The one or two business that actually obey by the rules and list the correct amounts on their tax returns will be punished.

 

With everyone being afraid to show over $250M the tax revenue of the government will decrease substantially.

 

What are all these banks doing with this extra cash from the FED? Why is this money not juiced into the economy?  Some business is high risk, construction & retail, but there are some businesses which will continue to grow. The banks have to JUMP start this economy!

KOAJ...Reconstruction is the birthplace of the extension of the commerce clause in which gave the Federal Government the power to regulate everything and pretty much destroyed any semblence of a Federalist Society...It was the route to the "omnipotent federal government." A couple of cases were decided before the civil war but the true expansion occurred during reconstruction.
 
This enabled the Government, when in 1913 the 16th Amendment was passed, to use the tax revenues for things inherently non-federal...then FDR and LBJ drastically expanded it. To say however, the last 30 years hasn't seen the Government further expand the hand holding and diminish the personal accountability and responsibility. Outside of Welfare reform under Clinton..both Dems and Reps have spent with impunity. Thus the need for more revenue.
 
So we have a spending problem which added to the 120B we spend in Iraq each year presents us with the possibility that we need more revenue although we have broken the record for tax revenue each of the last few years....this is my entire problem with the idea of me paying any taxes.
 
I would be willing to pay high taxes if I believed that the revenue from my and others tax burden was going to efficient programs that have a long-term vision of what is best for the future generations and this nation that was born with the unfappable ideals of a few great men. However, under our current governing system this is an impossibility because politicians campaign through the entirety of their terms...they care not about really changing our society to satisfy the heavy burden those same ideals place on each of us. These political campaigns are driven by one thing...MONEY...therefore those with get the ear of both Dems and Reps (people with money give to all those who can affect them). Thus the circle continues and we get short-term fixes that will provide the wealthy with what they want so that Joe Politician can get one more term...
 
So answer me this, why should I pay any taxes when at no point I have the faith that any of my money will be place into an efficient program that strives to improve and meet the lofty ideals in our Constitution?
 
Sorry for the Rant...but this is the dilemma I continually try to rationalize....and cannot.
