Crosby is the guy he is the better all around player! He showed it head to head in the series. OV is a goal scorer but Crosby does it all scores, passes and sees the ice alot better than OV. I am not trying to take anything away from Alex he is a great hockey player but there is more to the game than scoring goals.

I think when this coversation comes up 10 years from now people will know Ovechkin as a above average player who has a nice career maybe HOF, but when they mention the Kid it will be to compare him with the Great One . Sid is the real deal and going to end up with a hand full of rings.

Thornton6...  not gonna argue with you on who's better but... Yeah OV is a goal scorer but he had just as many assists as goals this year and had the highest points per game avg in the league.  Plus he throws the body around.  He's not a center and he's not going to have 35 goals and 70 assists, rather 53 goals and 52 assists.

One more thing, yes Crosby and the Pens won the series, but Ovechkin outscored Sid in the series.   Oh well, time for some cheese with my whine!

Until OV plays the defensive zone, plays defense in the neutral zone, involves others in offensive play (other than rebounds), there is no way he can be called the best player in the NHL. 
 
When the highlights of your resume (as they did on VS) are led in goals and SOG, that says it all.  How is shooting the puck almost 200 more times than anyone else an asset?  Until he learns there are other facets to the game he will always be 2nd (or 3rd) fiddle.

OV took 90 shots on net in 14 games he had a shooting percentage of 12.2 percent 90 shots wow thats 6.4 shots a game. That is 59th in the playoffs while Crosby took 63 shots in 17 games and scored 14 for a shooting percentage of 22.2 percent. Wow and people think OV is the better goal scorer i am starting to wonder who the better goal scorer is now.
