Where are all the Luongo haters now?

I'd rather have Leclaire than Luongo or Brodeur.

Without Fleury they do not beat Philly last season let alone several other huge games along the way to Game 7 in the Finals.

Fleury has proven to be possibly the best "big game goalie" at this point in recent history.  But I am biased.

Ward is definitely more of a big game goalie than Fleury.

But Fleury did play really really well in the playoffs last season to be fair.

Agreed. But the point is let's not get excited when Luongo earns a shutout against a team that might have given the Leafs a shot at winning yesterday night. The guy still has plenty of time to turn this around big time. Hell , could  even be a great season if he does want a good spot on the Canadian roster.

Agreed. The guy started off the season with an 0-2 record and has really settled since going 6-1. His last game against the Pens was impressive. But what do I know? lol

Fair enough.  I was referring more to the Finals.  You are right - the man has big game experience.  I'm partial to Leclaire and Mason and I suppose I've been outspoken in advocating for them since they seem to get lost in the chatter about these other guys.  You feel that way about Fleury I believe, so I can understand your passion.

#1 Ward, #2 Brodeur, #3 Leclaire.

Mason and Leclaire do what Brodeur and Luo do - win games for their teams that should have been ugly losses - to me that is the mark of an Olympic calibre goalie.  Good thing they aren't leaving it up to all of us to figure this out

Another Ontario hater... do you suggest we put in Joey MacDonald instead? I thought Leaf fans would at least appreciate Luongo's talent after watching him shut down your Buds on Saturday.

There is NO WAY Luongo doesn't make Team Canada (presuming he doesn't turn into Dan Blackburn and have to use 2 blockers) with the games being in Vancouver. Yes, Ward/Fleury/Mason/Leclaire are the future, but there is no way Babcock and the rest of the staff pass on the veterans Luongo/Brodeur.

i don't know why luongo doesn't lay the lumber to holmstrom for example...anyone hanging around his crease. he is just too nice.
i am a nucks fan. i say leave luongo at home. a gold medal will make him softer. he has to be motivated, stay hungry and improve his play. we need him to focus on the stanley cup not the gold medal.
i wonder if craig anderson for the states can continue his lucky ways going into the olympics?

i am in no way or shape attached to this team what so ever. I find it comical that people are willing to spend all that cash year after year to watch an inferior type of hockey team.

I agree with you.

I think its laughable to compare Leclaire to Fleury. Comparing someone with no big game experience with a guy who went to 2 straight SCF's. Maybe Leclaire was a product of the system his one great year as Mason came in and put up numbers that were just as good I believe. I guess time will tell if Leclaire is as good but at this point I don't know what people are smoking to put him on the same level as Fleury.

People wouldn't be thrilled about it but if it were my team, and I wouldn't give a fuck what people thought, I would absolutely have Fleury on my team.  He is an elite goalie in the league, if you don't know it now you will in 5 years when he is still an elite.  He's nearly flawless fundamentally and his focus is always right where it should be.

Didn't read the 2nd page before I posted, I'm with all the Fleury backers - you can say that he is bad at handling the puck but that literally may be is only flaw However Marty is Marty, the Cancuks are a shitty-ass team with a goalie who can be one of the best when he wants to be and wins many games for his team, and I can't argue with Ward, Mason, or Leclaire either - I would be thrilled to have any one of them on my team.  Canada has a great crop of goalies, I don't know how to choose but I would take Fleury and Leclaire.  Out with the old and in with the new - or should I say out with the possibly disinterested and in with the young studs who are going to play like it's game 7

Brodeur and then either Fleury or Luongo


and when there were 2 seconds left in the final and Fleury makes 2 saves Id say he was more than a minor reason they won the cup
