My top 4 teams to bet on 2nd half of the season (based on value and quality of team):
1. Carolina Hurricanes 2. New Jersey Devils 3. Calgary Flames 4. Phoenix Coyotes
All 4 teams will win more than they lose the rest of the way out. And most of the time they will be dogs or slightly favored! New Jersey and Calgary are playing damn good hockey. Both teams should have been fighting for the division but both have been underachieving all year. Phoenix and Carolina are two teams that will give you 100% every night. Shane Doan and Eric Staal are the two most underrated captains in the league. Carolina had the best record in the league the 2nd half of the year last year - i made alot of coin riding both teams the 2nd half of the year - watching them win as +150 dogs are higher.
I'm not saying ride these teams every game - but you will be able to find some very good spots!!
Other random thoughts/observations:
The Washington Capitals will go on win streak of 10 or more games before the season is over.
The Chicago Blackhawks aren't THAT good this year. This is NOT the sames team that they had last season - despite keeping majority of the big names.
The Dallas Stars are a legitimate threat to win the cup.
The Los Angeles Kings will have a top 5 record the rest of the season from here on out.
The Vancouver Canucks are the best team in west. In a class of their own in the west. Roberto Luongo is the best goalie in the league. The Sedins are the best and most dangerous duo in the league. The Vancouver PP is GREAT. And its very tough to beat them at home. I hate to say it (HATE THE CANUCKS) but I think it's their year in the west.
The Pittsburgh Penguins (when healthy) are the best team in the east. Philly is damn good too.
Steven Stamkos is ridiculous.
Stanley Cup: Canucks vs Penguins
Stanley Cup Champion: Penguins

Roberto Luongo is the best goalie in the league? So you're just going to ignore Tim Thomas? Or the fact that the Canucks have been exellent in the past, recently, and Luongo has gotten torched in the playoffs.
May be just me, but come playoff time I think the Nucks' biggest weakness is Luongo. I'd take several goalies over him come April.

Roberto Luongo is not terrible by any means in the playoffs. Actually it's the opposite, he has done quite well - he just can't beat the blackhawks and get out of the west. Well guess what - this year Vancouver will get home ice and Vancouver has a much better team.14-1-5 his last 20 starts - 21-5-5 in his last 31. He's pretty good.
How can you argue that Luongo sucks in the playoffs - and then say tim thomas is better??? What has he ever done in the playoffs? i dont remember boston winning cups or anything recently.
Roberto Luongo is in my opinion, the best goalie in the league. If you think Tim Thomas go ahead! Your opinion is appreciated!

Love me some Nashville too!! They might be my 5th fav team to bet on. Quietly always playing good hockey - kind like the yotes/canes always givin 100%. Philly is so damn good - there is just always too much juice for me!!!

St Louis @ home is nice - when they're healthy. Pretty good home team. Haven't touched em lately too many injuries - but they were hot the last 2 seasons for stetches of the second half another team to keep your eye on!

calgary will lose more then they win the rest of the way, the other 3 may win more,
Vancouver will not be in the final, i don't care if they finish 1st overall or not, they will find a way to lose in the 2nd round, it don't matter if its chicago, detroit, dallas, or even colorado, vancouver will be gone.

Devils if you look at their roster - have a good team.
Elias and Kovalchuk are elite players. Jacques Lemaire is an elite coach coaching his last season. Martin Brodeur is an elite goalie and winding down the last year or two or three of his career.
This team has gotten back to playing tight close scoring defensive games every night. They're listening to the coach and buying in and shows on the ice between the discipline and effort levels. The basic eye looks and sees the devils record and just assume they are brutal. The bookies know this and will keep setting tem at +140 or high virtually every where on the road.
Lets not forget this is a team who was a perennial power house for YEARS. A team that was expected to contend for a division crown. The talents there - and the confidence is back.
I think they will go over .500 second half of the season - with alot of value.

why does everyone think the devils are the play ? just cus of the value ??
i would maybe bet on em @ home if the lines are right
yeah its tough to bet on my flyers cus the line is always so high. i did tuesday cus it was - 170 and they won
i will prolly continue betting the flames, caines more often, tb lighting, and flyers ( best team in the nhl !!!! )
TB is legit too!!! But the boooks already know that were already seeing them at -150 or higher alot at home. Especially against 3 of the SE division teams (canes, panthers, thrash). They were much nicer the beginning of the year when we got some value on em!!

Dont really like Futures but i do have $ on either VAN/PHILLY winning stanley....can you actually choose who will make it to the finals, odds have to be alot higher if you guess BOTH teams correctly

Calgary is a good team if you look at their roster. Mikka is playing like vezina mikka again lately and the offense is consistently able to score 3+ goals they're going to win ALOT of games. Especially at home.
WEST CONFERENCE CONTENDERS(who could realistically beat the Canucks in a 7 game series)
Chicago is NOT the same blackhawks team from last season. They lost alot of key pieces that are leaving too big of a gap for them to play well consistently night in and night out. sure Toews Kane Sharp Campbell are all great but those 4 didnt win the cup. You need 20 guys playing as one to win it and this is a whole new team chemistry. Hawks get to 2nd round AT BEST this year.
Detroit I don't think Detroit is nearly the hockey team they were 2 + 3 years ago when they were winning the western conference every year. Everybody is a lil older and some pieces are missing and the replacements aren't going to get it done all season. Everyone says "oh they're just injured" what makes you think thats going to change? This is a fragile older team that is a good regular season team but they aren't built to make a big run.
Dallas - Vancouver owns Dallas first off. In a 7 game series, Dallas would get beat by Vancounver 10 out of 10. Dallas never has been able to beat Vancouver in the playoffs - and that won't change this year (7-1 two nights ago). Vancouver simply has Dallas' number.
San Jose been playing better but still cant be cosnidered a serious Appreciate the feedback.
Los Angeles got beat last year by Vancouver whats going to change? If anything the kings are worst.
Colorado doesnt stand a flying chance if you stack their rosters next to eachother. It's almost a laugh. Sure they have heart and skate hard but so does vancouver.
Nashville would also skate hard and fight and battle and maybe scratch out a win or two or three but they just dont have the skill level to be able to beat the vancouver canucks in a 7 games series.
You have to learn to win before you can win. the Canucks have done this. The Sedin's, kesler, burrows, the D core, Luongo, they;ve all been there a while and know how to win now. The coaching staff is resting Luongo more than hes ever been rested (genious). I'm not saying they'll win the cup, but as of right now I would say the vancouver canucks will win the west.
Just my opinion!!! Appreciate yours!
