I know that some people will definitely not agree with some or all of my plays today however there are some days where certain situations call for it and I believe that today is one of those days.

Congrats to last nights backers of Florida, Vancouver and Colorado.
I know you were out there and read the threads however I had already committed. My bomb of the day was Philly who allowed 7 goals with two different goalies after Florida had just gone s string of 14 straight games without scoring more than 2 goals. Go figure.
I was on the fence with the Van/Det game but chose to trust Detroit in that one. Big Mistake. My strong lean and eventual selection of the Ducks over the Ave's backfired as Anahiem folded after jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Did they just get someone from the Wings?
and to those backers.

NYIslanders at Atlanta - Both teams have been alternating wins and losses in thier last 6 games with both teams picking up a win in thier only games back from the break. The Islanders are 9-23 on the road this season and have lost thier L-6 on the road by a combined score of 21-8. Thier last road win was on 01/09/2010 coming at Pheonix by a 5-4 score. In this match up however the NYI is 11-6-2 in Atlanta since 1996 and has gone 3-2 in the L-5 in ATL including the last game in ATL which NYI won 4-1. The NYI have won the L-4 overall in this series by scores of 6-5(at NYI), 4-1 (at ATL), 6-3(at NYI), and last season 5-4(at ATL). My guesstimate is NYIslanders 4-3.
Pittsburgh at NYRangers - The Pens are 7-4 in the L-11 games in this Series which includes the L-2 games at the NYR's by scores of 4-2 on 01/25/2010 and 5-2 on 11/30/2009. The Rangers won the L- game which was in Pitt by a 3-2 score on 02/12/2010. So far the Pens are 3-7 when trying to get revenge for a home loss vs the same opponent. Prior to that NYR win were 2 wins by Pitt in NY and 5 wins in a row at home by the Pens. Before the Pens won those 7 in a row, the NYR's won the L-2 both in NY. KEY stat is that the NYR are 8-3 vs the Pens in the L-11 games at NYR. The NYR are 4-1 in thier L-5 and 3-0 as Dogs. The Pens are 2-4 in L-6 and 2-3 as Fav's. Gaborik is Q-able for this game. My guesstimate is NYRangers 3-2.
Toronto at Boston - Here we go again for today's Bruins backers... Both teams lost thier first game back from the break. Toronto is 1-4 in L-5 games and in the losses have been outscored 6-16 and the Leafs are just 4-12 vs the division. Boston is 10-8 vs the division and has gone 4-1 in L-5 games. Series trends support Overs and recent teams trends support Unders. O/U set here for 5.5 when last looked at. Boston is 12-5 L-3 seasons overall vs Toronto but the Bruins are 6-3 in the L-9 games vs Toronto in Boston. Still, it's hard to try and side with the Leafs here. My guesstimate Boston 4-2.

Tampa Bay at Washington - Caps are 1-0 and TB is 0-1 since break resumption. Cutting to the chase... The Caps are 14-3 overall L-17 games vs Tampa Bay and 7-1 at Washington. Caps have won 8 of L-9 overall by combined score of 40-23. Three meeting this season and Caps are 2-1. TB pulled off a 7-4 home win on 01/12/2010 getting 4 of 7 on the PP with Theodore and Nittymaki in the nets that game. Caps two wins by scores of 3-2 on 01/13/2010 and 3-0 on 12/07/2009 and in this game were Varlamov and Smith who are projected to start today's game also. Smith is 3-11 on the road this season and Varlomov is 7-0 at home in Washington this season. My guesstimate is Washington 5-2.
Ottawa at Carolina - Ottawa is 3-3 L-6 games and been outscored 15-23 in those games which includes a pre-break 0-5 loss at Toronto and a 1-5 post-break home loss to NYR's. Carolina has got it back together and is on a 6-0 run including 5 dog wins and is 10-2 in thier L-12 overall games. In this series the home team has won the L-6 times. Carolina is 4-1 in L-5 home games here and won the L-3 by scores of 4-1, 2-1, 2-1 over Ottawa. This season the team swapped home wins with Carolina winning last 4-1 on 01/10/2010 and the Sens winning in Ottawa 4-2 on 12/12/2009. My guesstimate is Carolina 4-2.
Los Angeles at Nashville - Everything here trend wise points to Nashville in this series however ask yourself if you want Nashville over LA today. Do You? If so go right ahead and good luck. I've tried being rational with LA and picking my spots however they have just been playing great. I expect the trends in this series to turn in LA's favor beginning today. Each team is 1-0 after the break. I would not be surprised if LA is the fav by gametime. My guesstimate is Los Angeles 4-2.

St.Louis at Dallas - After the break, the Blues came right out as if nothing ever changed with an impressive 5-2 win at Pheonix. Dallas on the other hand fell flat down in a needed home game vs conference playoff rival LA and lost 5-1 to the Kings. The Blues have won 4 straight while Dallas is 3-2 in thier L-5 games overall. In this series each team is 3-2 at home in the L-3 seasons combined. The Blues won the last game in Dallas on 11/25/2009 by a 4-3 score. The Blues lost the previous two games, one at home(Dallas 4-1) and one on the road(dallas 5-4). Before that the Blues won the last two games also a home/road set, 5-2 and 3-1. I like the momentum of the Blues right now. Seven of the Last ten games overall in this series have gone over and 4 of the L-5 in Dallas have gone over. My guesstimate is St.Louis 4-2.
Colorado at Pheonix - The Coyotes are 0-1 off the break(see Blues above) and Colorado is 1-1 since the leagues resumption. Overall the Aves have won 5 of 7, 6 of 9, and 12 of thier L-18. I love these Coyotes I really do but they are sliding recently. They have gone 0-3 and just 2 of 6 after gonig 6 of 6 before that. They are 11-6 in thier L-17 games. Even with Budaj expected to start for the Ave's tonight I had penciled in this one as having Colorado here. I think he will do just fine. He is 4-4 in his 8 starts. Despite the fact that Colorado played last night I like this spot with Pheonix struggling recently to balance that out. Hejduk is Q-able for tonight. My guestimate is Colorado 3-2.
Montreal at San Jose - San Jose is 0-1 and Montreal is 1-0 since season resumed from break. the SJS are 5-2 in the L-7 games of this series played in silican valley. In the most resent meeting the game was in Montreal where the Habs won 3-2 on 02/28/2009. The Canadiens are 5-3 in thier L-8 games overall and are 4-6 in thier L-10 road games but won thier L-2 on the road, both in Boston. The Sharks have lost 3 of thier L-4 overall and are just 5-5 following a 7-1 run. Recently at home they have gone 1-3 in L-4 which followed a 4-4 home running streak. So you see that the SJS are just 5-7 in thier last 12 home games. Enough for me to take the chance with the post Olympics wacky weather in the NHL. My guesstimate is Montreal 3-2.
Good Luck To All

Thanks Tone...Tough one to watch last night. Looks like the previous game took something outta them, but Florida played also on the previous night right...
