Wild got the job done. For today, rolling with the Panthers. Canes have a 3-game winning streak, they have a better record, I think of the two the public gives them the favorable sentiment. That said, I didn't like seeing their line this soft. Florida's been struggling, what their last 8 games and shouldn't have even been a favorite. This is such an important game for both. If you're the home team and you're two points out of the playoffs, coming off a loss 2 days ago where you're 10-5-3, I'd say you got a good chance if you fight for it. Moving the line to -107 from -110 doesn't mean much to me. The fact that the Panthers opened at -110 means a lot more in my book. This definitely makes the surging Canes look a lot more attractive, yet another "value play". Jersey's another value play tonight and so are the wings. I actually think all home teams win tonight.

I like it bobby, considering the play myself. But of course I dont agree the line opened Canes at + money because they want people to bet Canes, but simply because of Floridas decent homerecord vs. Canes at best mediocre road record
Florida is tough to beat at home and I dont get fooled by their last game, since Columbus is a well structured team an has a great record against eastern teams this year. At the same time. Most of the recent asswhoppings the Canes gave to other teams were at home.

Hey delasoul...I don't think Florida's decent home record is what people remember or think about at all. I think they've been losers at home and that's going to put more dent in people's minds. I mean just looking at their last 4 games at home where they've gone 1-3. To me, that's what your average gambler remembers. Remember, gamblers generally have short-term memories in terms of assessing a team's strength. They've lost 4 of their last 6 at home and I think that's what people feel about them, they've been struggling lately, particularly at home.
Well, of course you're entitled to your own perception of the line. I mean there's always a number one can look at which will justify either side of the action as being sharp or soft but to me personally, my being a statistician has taken a back seat to being a fundamentalist this part of the season. I don't handicap all that much anymore to be honest, I just try to understand what the books are trying to do because teams more or less have been read real well by linemakers this point of the season. Believe me, the number you think is meaningful that you're looking at has also been assessed by the oddsmaker. In the beginning of the season, being a statistician works well, particularly in baseball and any other moneyline sports. At this point, it's all about impressions. GL buddy.
