 Really, systems crash all the time.
I don't care for systems.
I have my own System->Natural Guts/simple matchup analysis & knowing how to follow the lines +
and "Fading the public" from time to time never hurts either
 
Straight up-> just know when to pull the trigger
 
Also.........When Teams are hot their Hot, when their cold their cold... when the goalies suck A$$ they suck A$$

I totally  disagree with the right discipline and money management you can make a ton of money In fact you can make a little and build your bankroll, just have to have discipline > how any times you seen someone just bet a game for entertainment. Those are the 98% of them that will lose the other 2% of progamblers will do it as an investment. Them are the people will make money because they have a system that works. I am not gloating about this but there is a a way to do this. I honestly can say I hit 33% of my bets and make a profit, I risk no more than 3% of my bankroll  on any given day. I always am looking for another way to profit even what I have now. 17 years ago I started with nothing now I can see the light, just have to have patience and discipline and whenevr a hot game thinking you can win on something you probbaly thiunk you could win. Allways have a proven system before you want to continue gambling , remember don't you want to be a professional gambler instaed of someone thats does it for entertainment. I fanyone wants my system I only need 33% to win please drop me an email , I only need 2 wins out of 6 thats it.I rest my case,Its actually a simple startegy.

You dont want to be a professional gambler, they lose money. You want to be a professional capper, they dont gamble.

Don't do it. You need very large bank roll because of risk of ruin. The fact you think you would be doing good hitting 65% shows you do not know what you are getting into. Anyone that consistently hits that would become very wealthy. 54%-57% is more like it and thats if you have an angle and don't steam plays. parlay etc. BOL Try it with small money for a year or two and keep great records, I did and found at what I was. Recreational player.

ive been doing this to pay for school for the last 2 years, im not getting rich but i pay all my bills and have some spending money. only 1 tip, money management is key, DO NOT CHASE!
i net anywhere from 0 to 3600 a month, so its not the most stable thing ever. some months you make nothing, some months you make very little. I would not recommend you try to do this for a living unless you have a $4000 bank roll (200 per game) AND 3 months worth of living expenses(mortgage/rent, car, food, etc)

Actualy there r systems that win long term - just one in  particular  - you can go to the betting doctor site - and/now this is for football only but he shows a major pofit over a 2, or so year period -u can track it by going to 'expired picks' and then to 'bankroll' - scroll all the way to the bottom - about 2 years ago and then scroll up - it goes by like a stock 'ticker-tape'
 
The larger ssues are 2:
 
One you have to have a huge bankroll - say 10K or so - cause every thing is relative and safe/conservative betting would require this size account to be able to wait for and 'live' of a profit of somewher between 57 and 62 % over time
 
and 2nd - you'd have to be sure on a long term system that produces this level of aveage-long term resuls

I purposely posted in the thread so itd be saved in my thread history for later use. Coupled with the fact that I sort of disappeared from the site for awhile(mostly because hockey season ended and my betting slowed a lot) I was able to find it pretty easily. Still some of the best advice I have read on these boards and it has helped me stabalize my betting which led me to more profit on my bets. Kudos for that write-up and if you do another ill be happy to read it :)

It is nearly impossible to hit 60% over the long term. As mentioned above, anybody that makes money at this hits around 53% to 57% over the long term. And you can't bet more than 1% to 2% of your bankroll. If this is your only source of income then it is 1% or even less. Long losing streaks are inevitable. Therefore you need a large bankroll. So,,,any wager that has around a 55% probablility of winning should be a play. Therefore, having 7 or 8 plays each night would not be uncommon. A winning percentage as low as 53% applied over a larger number of bets is effective. Especially since you can get 10 cent and 8 cent lines at some books.

wow...this is certainly against most advice.  2-3 plays per night is typically thought of as a good max.  i've often thought that more plays would help balance out more wins.

here's the thing.  if you are to stay at a 53% winning record, you really limit yourself to staying above -125 bets.  no? 

is there a minimum that people stay with?  for instance, do you say "i'll never put money on - 120" ?

Are you kidding? 6-10 units a month for your fulltime job? I really hope those units are in the thousands because Im a college student and use $600-1000 each month to live and its nothing spectactular. Get a job or go back to school. No one likes working your not the first to hate work. I worked for 2 years in a manufacturing setting right out of highschool which sucked ass but it made me realize I need to go to school and do something worthwhile. Keep gambling something you can afford to do, or as a hobby. The girlfriend remarks in here are on the dot as well. Im not doing this for a living but I still spend hours each week researching, and my girlfriend doesnt enjoy it. Even when I win, she would still rather have me and her watch tv for the night or go for a walk instead of spending the winnings. I remember a thread once about a guy saying "What if I decided to do something productive this month-year with the hours I spent capping". Such as reading, or working out. Imagine how built you would be or that much smarter?

Im sure there is many cappers on this site that do this for a living and just keep quiet on it, as most good cappers do here. There is a guy here named MrBator, probably the most popular and hated guy at the same time, but he does this for a living. I think he said in one of his threads before that he is embarassed when people ask him what he does for a living. He has tons of money and Im sure hes content with life, but I think he may be thinking in the back of his mind that he hasnt contributed much to society by just gambling(Except his $1000 giveaways for predicting a correct NFL score haha). Anyways just keep gambling as a hobby and read the threads here. From age 16-18 I gambled blindy with "good teams" and "teams with big stars on them". And now I wouldnt even think of that since I joined a few years back here.

Staying at 53% or better does not mean you stay at -120 or -125 bets. You can make bets at -200 but you would need to win 2 out of 3 bets to break even. The breakeven percentage when wagering -1.20 is 54.5% and at -1.25 it is 55.6%. So if you see a line of -1.25 on a team and you believe the probability of that team winning is greater than the 55.6% then you might want to pull the trigger. That is where the handicapping comes in!
I agree with everyone here - play for fun and see how you do over the course of several hundred bets. You would need a huge bankroll to do this full time.

to be clear....when I say full time, i mean that I have $50k as a bank roll, making 2% of my bankroll per bet... $1k ea bet.

that means that if i'm up 6-10 units per month, i'd be up enough to pay for expenses.

Never bet money you can't afford to loose.  There is a reason vegas is so rich, they are smarter then most gamblers.

You could do this for a living but it takes guts and discipline.

You can never be satisfied with small wins, you will have to take a chance and try a thousand dollar bet once in a while.

The hardest part is trying to win and pay expenses at the same time, basically you have to win 1000 just to break even every month.

You may stay ahead for a few months, but one huge loss, will set you back and now you will be behind your expenses, and then you panic and chase because you feel guilty,

 

Having another job will take your mind off of gambling and you will realize the value of a dollar and will humble you enough to not risk a huge chunk of money.

In order to win $4000 you have to wager atleast $80,000 to $100,000 a month.

I don't recommend it...My parents were millionaires when I was in high school until we found out my father gambled away $750,000 over 10 years and got a mortgage on our business illegally by forging our names....
 
I don't think that is anything anybody would ever want to have happen to them...
