How many free tickets were given out and 2-1 bargains
We have a winner. They can tell you the attendance is what ever number they want but they aren't selling that many tickets. I cant see them moving team to Canada any time soon, I hope I am wrong but it makes to much sense so Ratboy will run the other way from that.
The hardest part about a 2 week war is the first 4 years

It's nice to talk about but you won't see a team move anytime soon.
As long as corporate is buying tickets the bowl can be half filled, it doesn't make any difference. Now giving away tickets is a different story.
Everyone loves to bang on the Southeast attendance. But before you jump on the bandwagon, take a look at what the Islanders, Avalanche and Devils are pulling in for thier home games. The Devils always have bad attendance, considering how good they are, but no one ever mentions them moving.
But really the only team that should be talked about moving is the 'Yotes. If you can't average 12,000 a game then something should be done. But don't worry, the free market will take care of it. Finally it will get to a point where no one will want them and the NHL will have to spew red ink owning them and the owners will not put up with that for long.
I wonder how the 'Hawks are doing thier numbers? Putting up folding chairs ? They are at 107% attendance, now that's packing the stands.

As a kid, I remember those early WHA days very well....Bobby Hull signing that million dollar bonus put them on the map, although, he had to go to court to validate that contract...He won, but I believe he missed a good part of their initial season...The Jets eventually played the New England Whalers (I attended a few games at the old Boston arena, and at the Garden) in the WHA finals, losing to the Whalers.
As a Bruin fan, I was soooo pissed off when Cheevers bolted the Bruins for the Cleveland Crusaders...Not so much when "turk" signed with the Philadelphia Blazers.
Hope you guys up there get your team back.

A friend of mine went to a Trasher game for $10 Last Leafs game i went to i paid $30 to park, $250 for 2 tix (cheap seats)and over $100 on food and booze. Kessel doesnt have to worry about the team meeting payroll

I have allways though any team south of the mason-dixon line was a waste of time for the nhl,,,,sure I love my caps ,,,just shy of it...but carolina,,tampa, dallas, phoenix, and atlanta have all sturggled with attendance.....can't support a team without revenue.....was allways in favor of nhl staying in canada cities.....good for weeny get the jets back.....had only one trip to the yotes center got box seats and it was empty of fans,,,really sucks...hell vegas can't support a minor ahl team
GO JETS
The NorthStars should have never been allowed to leave Minnesota, Jets should still be in Winnepeg, Ave's should have stayed in Quebec as the Nordiques, Canes should have stayed in Hartford as the Whalers, should still be a NHL team in Cleveland called the Barons. Colorado should have gotten an expansion team when they decided to re-enter the NHL rather than a southern city. I know there are many factors but this is what I'd have liked to have seen. I also wish the Seals were still in Oakland.
I wish I was 20 again
I wish I was very weathly
I wish.....

Yes, Yes, Yes to Winnipeg! Let's get all of these teams out of the South and get them in hockey markets where they belong. I watch these Atlanta games and I swear there are about 50 people total in the arena. I want to see Queen Elizabeth's mug in the Winnipeg Arena again!

As an owner it myst be tough with this revenue shareing. Half a dozen teams or so are being supported by the rest of the league. If i was an owner i would be upset. Hard enough to keep your own teams in the profit let alone yours plus others who are failing with LOW attendence

I have an awesome original WHA table hockey game made by Monro. It has the WHA logo on center ice, team names on sides, full score board with all team names, players with WHA on jerseys. I wish I could sell it to someone who would love to own it. Even have the original box in good condition. I use to collect them but stopped. I sold the other WHA one I use to own to a guy from Michigan years ago. I have tons of old table hockey stuff and even some Munro team stickers for teams they did not make em for. I once had an online friend from NY who use to make em for me for cheap. I have Philly Blazers, Flyers in White, many, many more. Some players with helmets and some without, some goalies with masks(Parent) some without. Awesome collection, wish I could sell it all since it's costing me $ in storage.

I'd just be interested in finding out if they would be able to call themselves the Jets again. The trademark is owned by some dude named Barry Shenkarow and he uses it to milk merchandising currently hahah

Man, I hope this is true! We need another Canadian team, and I'd rather that be in Winnipeg or Quebec City rather than another team in Southern Ontario

Put a team anywhere in Canada and it'll draw. We're a bunch of hockey nuts...Hockey Day in Canada? 12 hours of Trade Deadline coverage on 2 Networks? I mean come on Gary, you don't have to bit hit over the head to realize Canada can generate some much needed cash for your league!
I can't wait for him to retire. LOL

It has nothing to do with ticket sales or how big the arena is. The NHL wants teams in obscure areas to make their tv audience grow. Putting a team back in Winnipeg or Quebec wont change the tv ratings (people in Winnipeg and Quebec have always been watching hockey.)

Wealthy David Thomson of Toronto, the man who owns most of the shares of the MTS Centre and True North Sports Entertainment in Winnipeg, has purchased the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League and will move them to Winnipeg for the 2010-2011 season. The Moose will move to Saskatoon. The announcement will be made after the Olympics. Believe what you want to beleive.
Thoughts?
wish it was true but jackoff Bettman will NEVER let it happen NEVER
