Well, last night didn't go as planned (for myself). Congrats to Houser on his first NHL game and win, embarrassing Isles. Speaking of embarrassing, the Pens put forth no effort last night and hung DeSmith out to dry. What a comeback by the Wild! Don't look now but I think they feel they can win that division. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a Wild/Canes final. Canes win and Vegas loss put the Canes closer to that President's Trophy. Another heated topic from last night was Tom Wilson and his fight with Panarin. Hearing both sides of the story. My take, looked like a hockey scrum, any that we see each and every night but Wilson's reputation again comes into play. Did he go over the edge?
Onto tonight. So you want to wager -260 on the Jekyll and Hyde Islanders? Do they care if they are 3rd or 4th? I can't figure this team out. Islanders are still 9-1 in their last 10 vs Sabres. Boston vs Devils. Last night was the first time since November 2019 that the B's had beaten the Devils by more than 1 goal. I think the B's feel like they can move up to #2 or even possibly #1 seed. Probably see Swayman tonight and he has been pretty solid in net. Canes vs Hawks. Canes imo are on a mission. I will say that I won with their tt last night as they have played 6 games with the Hawks and 5 of them, the Canes have scored 4 or more. How disinterested will the Hawks be after officially being eliminated last night? Pens vs Flyers. As a Pens fan, what can I say? Pens have only won ONCE in Philadelphia since October 2019. The Pens have not been beaten by 5 goals this season. The closest thing I can find was an 8-4 loss to the Rangers, and the next game vs Rangers they won 5-2. I think we see a better defensive performance out of the Pens tonight. It reminds me of 2 weeks ago when the Devils scored 6 in the 3P and the next night, the Pens held them to a single goal. My only play tonight is Pens ML. Oil and Nucks? Ya'll go ahead and discuss, I will be asleep and honestly don't care about that one.
What do you want to talk about?

Wilson gets fine $5k for the brawl. That’s a joke.
ONLY because his name is Wilson and his reputation. IT was a hockey scuffle. The type we see every night. I see a lot of players get thrown to the ground and pummeled but they don't have the last name Wilson.

panarin went for Wilson from behind and got what he asked for panarin is too small to fight,he put himself in a bad situation it’s unfortunate what happened to panarin but Wilson not just some guy who’s gonna let you hit him from behind,ask pens fan they will tell you

Yep that is exactly what happened. What was Wilson doing when Panarin “went after him”? It is strange how these things happen all the time and he keeps getting singled out. Reminds me of guys like Claude Lemieux and Ulf Samuelson back in the day, just because their names.

Yeah like 5k is a lot of money!!!! Please not even for me a small time bettor! I didn’t see the game but as a Ranger fan I’ve been waiting 40+ years for them to be a tough team to deal with 2 scumbag teams like Boston and Washington!!! I guess all the coaches and GM’s over 40 fukin years don’t see what I do!!!!

The thing thats bothers me is what Wilson does to the player on the ice already before Wilson gets jumped from behind. Wilson punched the Rangers player in the head while his head is on the ice while he is on top of him. There was no need for the punch to the side of the guys head. If Wilson does that back in the day. He would get his ass handed to him. He punches a Red Wing well her comes Probert or Kocur. If he punches a Lesf player here comes Domi. There is no deterrent anymore so Wilson just keeps doing what he does. He punches a Oiler in the head like that he has to man up against Semenko or McSorley he has free rein on the ice. He does that when the broad street bullies were around he doesn't leave the ice till someone beats his ass. They dont want fighting in the game. Players now this so they do stupid things and have no respect for other players.

On this part I think we agree. Wilson suckered Buchnevich. And that began the whole sequence or did it? So I ask this to be educated, as I did not play hockey. What is the "norm" when a goalie has a puck covered and before the whistle? Is it "normal" for players to jab sticks into the goalie while he is on the ice unprotected? I mean I see this often and usually the result is a skirmish. Is this considered acceptable? My point is, while Wilson did take a cheap shot, it was brought on by some other doings by the Rangers, was it not? I also agree that if today's game had the Probert's, Grimson's or McSorley's , we would not be seeing this out of Tom Wilson. That being said, I am no Capital fan. But I watch hockey every night of the season and I see so many cheap shots that go unmentioned and it's not just a Tom Wilson. Guess I am saying I see crap like this all the time, it just seems magnified when Wilson is involved.

Chicago is starting Delia. He did come into the game last night and faced 19 shots without giving up a goal. Prior to that, he played in 2 games back in January giving up 5 goals in each game. 3 years in the League with 21 games, 3.70 GA, .904%.
Mrazek first game since April 19th. Do we see an OVER?

I want to jump on the over again but I am very hesitant, Chi was dead last night and I think Car will play conservative in front of Mrazek to get him going and comfortable, could be wrong but just gut feeling

That was my gut as well tone. I am thinking a 3-1 type game. Canes will do just enough to win and Chicago had the wind taken out of their sails with the elimination last night.
Currently only thing I have is Pens ML and Pens tt over. Might be it unless, I parlay something.

Pitt/Flyer over with Pitt scoring all 6 goals is a good thing.
@mountaincaribou
I really think the League "Wants it's cake and eat it too". They want to give the appearance that they don't accept it but they also want to keep it in the game in some fashion. They fined him the max for excessive roughing but didn't want to throw the book at him.

GASportsdoc when a goalie has the puck covered before the whistle most players dont try to jab at the puck hit the goalie slash him. Atleast the players that understand the puck is covered completely will not attempt to jab at it. Now that being said If its loose and they can see it before the whistle guys will attempt to retrieve it and score. I dont hate what Wilson did protecting his goalie its the way he does it. He could have pulled the guy out of the crease off his goalie without punching him in the head thats the only thing he does wrong. The thing that stands out to me what he does is he knows first its not a tough player and two the guy that does it isn't a dirty player at all he is a scorer. So not hard to just grab him pull him out of the crease and its over. No punches thrown it settles down. As soon as he throws that punch all hell breaks lose.
