excellent post, I had the wrong side--and it agonizingly felt that way during the first drive of the game...

Midway through the third quarter--I was sitting at home thinking the Giants were going to score a TOTAL of 3 points, and NE still wasn't going to cover...

First drive of the second half was the ballbuster...

Like I said in another post, my trip to Bandon Dunes in two weeks will now be financed by winning nassaus, side bets, and liar's dice while I'm there!

Win or lose, this is why Bator has to be the most respected person on the Covers board. Nobody else would take the time to make a post like this after what happened. NO ONE. Hell, most people would probably create a new alias because they wouldn't have the stones to admit they were wrong and are truly sorry about it and those they affected.

I still have much respect for you, and I would like to thank you for the Indy win in '07 vs NE when they covered by a point in the playoffs.  That was huge for me!  Ignore the haters... every superstar has them.  Successful people also fall, but they always get back up.

Honestly i felt the pats were the "house's" side and wanted to back that side..
Also, ALOT of well reguarded  NFL cappers were on the PATS ...
I think many built up steam w/each other.
 
Couldnt see the Ny Locals "gettin taken out the cleaners".
 but  THEY DID!!!!

If anyone switched there bets, they did it by choice, you didn't hold a gun to there head. No blame needs to come from anyone except the insecure. Your info and knowledge are valuable.

Nice post MrBator:  I really thought that it was the weather holding back the Patriot offense we were used to and thought they would win big.  I will resort to what I always told my kids;  If you win say "We're number 1" and if you lose,say "Ah, hell, it's just a game".  That works for me, onward and upward.  I appreciate your insight through the season.

Mr. Bator, I initialy when put in prison 3 days preceding the SB I went on a tirade on how you should apologize to all pats backers that you pushed in that direction.  After sitting in my 3X3 cell I put things into perspective & realized the truth about matters which I since discussed in several other threads regarding you & tailers.  Tailers when all said and done are responsible for their own actions bottom line.  You sir are a very respected contributer to this forum for a long time now & it took me some time to realize this regardless of your Pats lean.  I came to grips w/ the fact that I was being disrespected not only the way I was coming off but because I have not earned any respect w/ minimal contribution and time spent here.  Respect is earned and you have earned that respect.  That being said, one incorrect pick does not lose you any of it despite it being the biggest game of the year.  I see that many have benefited from your advice throughout the year and previously and we all know that gambling for profit is not a sprint.  Although it was certainly not necessary to apologize to myself or anyone for that matter it is most appreciated and shows your character.  I'm not a tailer of yours but I do respect your contribution to this forum and I  know that you will continue to make yourself and others plenty of $$ in the future.  I won't be posting beyond end of Feb as I'll be off on my NL holdem tour until mid June.  BOL this NFL offseason

MrBator, Pats were 1-3 ATS in 4 Super Bowls, and unfortunately I took all those 4. They are the team that hurts their backers when coming down to biggest games. I picked Pats myself and I regret that I still bet them after 1-2 ATS. Enough is enough, NO more Belichick's Pats in Super Bowls, please. Let other clubs play at big dance.

As you know, I too was big on Pats to cover the spread. Bad loss but despite the large amount of $ gone, for some reason, this just does not hurt as bad as past losses. Maybe its because I hate the Pats so much or maybe its because after betting this entire season, I have realized that in the gambling world, big losses are usually followed by big wins (eventually) and vice versa. That being said...we will get it back. Good post bro.

 You the Man.  We lost the bet cause the Pats didn't show up..I was on them before reading your thread. It seemed right.(despite how they were ATS in the previous 10 games) I felt the Giants steam was due to slow down with the break. I felt they blew their load getting there. Pats had everything to gain historically.
The haters in this forum need to realize that they make financial desisions for them self. Rush, Degenerate,MrBator, etc doesn't look at everyones bankroll and comeup with a fucking retirement plan for them. The problem is these people take out a 2nd mortgage everytime they hear about a "sure thing" I have been doing this(not as a living) for 10 years and learned a long time ago that the game will still beat everyone nearly 50% of the time... upsets occur. There will always be ups and downs. Its a fucking game. With millions of non-identifiable variables.Handicapping will always only take us so far. We will not win every bet.
 
 You put your money where your mouth was.Big Money!  And the kids that lost their allowance money should shut their mouth..

Well, I ended up losing $14k on the ML with the Patriots.  Half my life's savings...But in the end, I was the one that submitted the bet.  I don't think anyone could blame you.  That's gambling.  Unfortunetly for me it came on the tail end of 2 other huge losses which put me from $50k down to $14k in 3 weeks.  Tough to take.  But that's the game I played.  Learned a lot in the process and hopefully can get it back up there at some point. Albeit a bit slower this time.  Best of luck to all.

Everyone is responsible for their own bet. You tail someone, it's on you.
 
Bator and Splooge offered up GREAT points for and against each team. You weigh the info, place your bet, and let the chips fall where they may.

I could only cover my face with my hands when I saw the Patriots chickening out of the 48-yard field goal attempt in favor of the 4th and 13 play that you, me, and everyone else watching around the world KNEW wasn't going ANYWHERE.  When Brady's 4th and long heave sailed out of bounds, I could feel the New England fans in the stadium felt beaten, because I felt beaten, too 
 
i made a thread saying about how it was a bad decision..i get vibes on games and was watching that play and in my opinion it cost them the game..some say 1 play doeesnt matter but if they where up 7 the game was over there was 0% chance giants would win. why is that so..because theyd have a 7 pt lead + a 18 game winning streak - the pressure of 1 bad play giving the giants the lead and putting all the pressure back on them not to lose. so if anyone thinks that didnt effect the outcome and reckons the pats being up 7 with 10 mins to go into the 3rd wouldnt make a difference they know jack shit about sport

also i think back to that game in which they got the last second touchdown to win the game and continue the streak while i was watching that i was thinking if they lose this game theyre sewing up the championship..if they score then it may come back to haunt them( they wont fix up errors and keep doing what thyey do( such as dont kick a field goal when they have a chance)..and it did..so 2 out of 2 of my vibes came true.

Hey Bator, it takes a BIG man to say what you said and admit you were wrong. The pats had their chances and could not do it. I really don't know what brady was doing, but he was certainly not on his game. I remember one play moss was wide open in the end zone and brady completely missed him. It was at that point I said to myself, what the fuck is going on. We are all wrong sometimes and you have given great picks in the past and a lot more winners than losers.

I hope you continue to post as you have great insight and are one of the reasons I even visit this site. This was just one tough beat, you have called many great games in the past. Indi to beat new england 1-2 years ago, and even the JETS ML over pittsburgh. Let those who talk shit, talk shit. You did not force anyone to bet, they chose to put down their own money. Its funny when you give them winners they don't complain, but when there is a loser its bashing time.

Once again, tough beat but you will definitely get back on track. I hope you continue to post and We will get those suckers back.
