Because of parity and free agency, NFL teams can go from stinky to playoff bound in the next season, see the above 4 teams.  What teams that didn't make the playoffs this past year will do so next season?

What teams that didn't make the playoffs this past year will do so next season?

Dallas, New England, Houston, San Francisco, New Orleans, Green Bay and maybe Cincinnati.

Teams that make the playoffs that didn't last season is hard to judge right now, but I have to say the front runner is the Patriots to return to the playoffs.  Bengals on watch as well

I think the obvious is the Patriots. I am going to say AFC team the Texans and NFC team the Saints.

I suppose every1 else has Houston too, but how can you resist? Steve Slaton is going to be dynamite in his sophomore year, while Andre Johnson is coming off an incredible season, not to mention the DE upgrade with Antonio Smith

skins could have a good year, 2 teams from the NFC east are going again, its a coinflip for which ones. the skins fixed their #1 problem over the last few years, that being their poor pass rush.

Besides the Pats I'd say Green Bay. Really need to wait until after the draft though.

How did they fix their pass rush?  Haynesworth??  One person doesn't "fix" a pass rush.

uhh. try telling that to the chargers who went a year without their best pass rusher and what happened, no pass rush, which translated to no defense. the redskins already had a strong defense, and if they can get a steady pass rush (which if he plays to his potential, which isn't guaranteed) they will have a much better pass rusher. also they will still most likely pick up a DE with their first pick, they're looking hard at Orakpo out of texas. notice i didn't say it will make their pass rush amazing, but you have to be stupid to think it won't help. skins could be scary next year which doesn't fare well for my turmoil filled cowboys

Defense will be better, but when they win games it will be the 17-13 variety.

There's a huge difference b/w the two situations.  Merriman and most of the 10 others on D have played together for seasons.  They developed a continuity and gelled (sp) well together.  That's the main reason why the Chargers D fell, that and b/c he was the heart and soul of that D.

On the other hand, you don't know how Haynesworth will be in a new defense, with new players, coaches, etc.  It's a crap shoot.  Yes, he's a great player (WAS AT TENNESSEE), but who's to say he will be the same or even better in Washington?  Their D is getting pretty old too.
