Chiefs won total yards by 10 yds but Bucs won penalty yds by 81, 71 yard difference for Bucs.
That's assuming yds and penalty yds are equal, penalty yards might be worth more, which then means Bucs won by over a 100 yards. depending on the value you'd give penalty yds.
Red zone was a huge diff, I don't think KC was very good in red zone all season, they had a number of TD's outside the red zone with big plays but once you shut those big plays down they struggle in red zone.

yeah there were some major mistakes by the chiefs:
-Kelce drops a first down
-as you said red zone. there were 2 passes in the end zone missed by receivers that were catchable ballxs
-like you said penalties. at critical times. including personal foul 1st down, pass int 40 yards ended in td, lining up offsides ends in td, holding in end zone=td. holding negatives int, some penalties were debatable but not all. personal foul shows no interest the high stakes of the game
-punt, from the dropped ball the holding call, they lost 42 yards from the first punt to the next
it was a comedy of errors by the chiefs. they never had a chance, they were unfocused and the buccs were focused.
you can say hey without the penalties, but the penalties are part of the lack of focus imo.
it's like these guys forgot it's the super bowl. mahomes played as hard as he could on turf toe-another issue-but as for the rest of the team, it's hard to imagine a worse showing

Very true Claw....as a student of +/- regression, seeing how KC's defense played head and shoulders above their average with regards to RZ trips vs the Bills (0-4) when they were the worst all season in RZ defense....along with the fact KC offense went 5-0 on their RZ trips vs the Bills....should have opened some eyes to the strong possibility of reverting back to the mean come Super Bowl. I did think about this from the defensive perspective prior to SB but not one bit from the offensive side you are talking about. Look forward to seeing your NBA PRI and II's later this season

100% perfect sum up of that KC performance .... this game was lost when the KC plane landed in Tampa.... Buccs lined them up and bent them over....no lube style.

Only three players in NFL history have accounted for nine touchdowns from scrimmage combined across their first five NFL postseason appearances. With his three-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game, Chiefs running back Damien Williams joined Terrell Davis and Larry Fitzgerald as the only players in history to accomplish the feat.
