Tua drafted by Lions
...i know things
No, you don't. Stafford isn't going anywhere; Quinn and Patricia are "on the clock" to contend-
or-else. No way they're gonna do that starting a rookie QB, no matter hoe talented.

The "contend or else" edict came directly from Old Lady Ford (93 yrs old), who (behind the scenes) is said
to be a lot tougher than she looks. Tua's had numerous injuries -- not just his hip. I'm pretty sure the Lions
will either trade the #3 pick for a couple of second rounders, or sign Tua and develop him for at least a year.
Maybe THEN they'll trade Stafford -- who will still have two years left at $27M a season then -- to another
team with an ACTUAL chance at winning the Super Bowl. But Quinn is on the hot seat right along with
Patricia, after firing Coach Caldwell despite his 36-28 record over 4 years. Quinn was critical of Caldwell's
relative success, only to see it all blow up in his face under Patricia.
So Quinn -- as the saying goes -- "knows what time it is".

Stafford has done nothing in his career with the lions.....11 seasons with Lions. 1 playoff appearance zero playoff wins...pathetic......stat padder...Not sure why the Lions have not let traded or let him go...Patricia and Cook had Stafford last 2 years...what was the result of that...They have the #3 pick and a chance top draft a franchise QB...You do not get very many changes to do that...

Per Football Outisders, Stafford is much better than his overall team. FO rates him the #6 in QBR, while DET's OFF is #18 and DEF is #28 in DVOA.
Deteriorating Tom Brady only ranked #17 in QBR last year (basicallytied with Winston), so Stafford would be a substantial upgrade at the QB position for NE.

He would be a great fit. Can fit well in a discipline system but also provides the ability to really air it out deep, something Brady could not do anymore.

Stafford is a solid quarterback on a franchise run by screw-ups. You're incorrect about his
"1 playoff appearance." He has led the Lions to the playoffs THREE times (2011, 2014 and 2016).
You're correct about zero playoff wins however. I've already given the reason why GM Quinn and
Coach Patricia aren't likely to start a rookie QB....their JOBS ARE ON THE LINE. They MAY draft him
but he's gonna carry a clipboard at game time if they do!

Stafford would be a much better QB on a team with a solid run game. The Patriots don't offer that and he would be forced into risky checkdowns and forced throws, like he is with the Lions. A team like the Chargers, for example, with a solid run-game and able receivers, would be the type of fit for Stafford in which he would excel in.
You are also overestimating the team intelligence of the Lions. It's the most incompetent front office in league history and they like stability, even with horrible players and coaches, and are not willing to make blockbuster moves as in trade the face of their franchise.

A young NFL GM wannabe shouldn't waste time studying what the good teams do. Just study the Lions personnel and coaching decisions over the last 50 years and do the opposite.
