During the NFL Combine, every prospect participates in a Wonderlic test. The results of those tests are supposed to be kept private, but every year the numbers make their way to the public.
In his series of NFL Draft previews, The Athletic's Bob McGinn has released the Wonderlic scores on nearly every prospect so far. In this post, we'll just be focused on the numbers from quarterbacks. We'll also focus on whether or not the results of this test have any affect on the quarterback's prospects as an NFL player.
If you're unfamiliar with what the Wonderlic test is, read this explanation from Wikipedia:
The Wonderlic Personnel Test is a popular group intelligence test used to assess the aptitude of prospective employees for learning and problem-solving in a range of occupations. The Wonderlic is available in 12 different languages and is often used in college, entry level jobs, and team-making efforts. It consists of 50 multiple choice questions to be answered in 12 minutes.

it's a tough test I saw some questions from the test a few years ago. We can tell by looking at the results who actually spent time in school studying.

Lamar Jackson says hello....Just because u are smart does not mean you can play the QB position.
Tom Brady scored an impressive 33 and Dan Marino with a 16 was probably the most successful QB with a low score. Jackson was a 13 but 1 year of greatness does not make a career. Vince Young scored a 6.

Well look at Brady's success on and off the field. As much as I liked Marino as QB always thought he was arrogant prick. He career off the field has been horrendous failed businesses fired from TV and financial problems.

That and the hip injury plus 2 documented high ankle sprains, a knee surgery, a broken finger, a quad injury etc... may send him way lower down the draft board than anyone imagines. The best bet I can make at betonline is Tua does not get drafted in the top 5 @ +170. I think that's golden.

In order for this to look good, I'd do some homework and see who has the top 5 picks, and have any of them talked about serious interest in Tua ? The test result may do little to dissuade a team that has high interest in him.

You can't question test results, it is what it is.
He also had the luxury of playing behind an o-line who let up a 2.4% sack rate on passing downs. Good for #2 in the country. He had 2 stud wr's at his disposal. And as Getty mentioned, injury prone as f*ck.
I think the kid is a damn good football player and has the instinct for the game. But I would not draft him high. The injury issues combined with the wonderlic results scream RISK.
What if he goes to a team with an average to subpar oline? Which is likely if picked high. He'll be in harms way while trying to out think nfl defensive schemes.

.... It is one test though, so you can't discount what he's accomplished on the field. I will say the Two points you brought up are extremely important, and you can bet NFL scouts are probably giving a second look at his game film , seeing if he perhaps has an inability to make good decisions in a short period of time. This is an something that the Wonderlic MAY expose..
I'm sure most scouts will look at the injury prone issue, though, as the greater threat..

If I was that easy...Tua ran a pro test coast style offense with Sark...Hurts could not read a defense @ Bama under Lockley..Yet he goes to to OU and lights it up with that 1 read offense...The tape does not lie...You see Tua's foot work...His 3/5/7 step drop is pro ready...He goes through progressions...He is deadly accurate on the all the short/intermediate stuff...His pocket presence is what you are looking for in a QB. He is night and day compared to Hurts passing the ball and look at the numbers he put up at OU. Tua would be elite at any program...Tape does not lie.

Also I think Burrow is a huge risk going #1. He is 25 years old and had really only 1 great year although is was probably the best even in CFB history...His junior was very average...Lot of red flags here. A lot of his success was the pro concepts Joe Brady brought to LSU...the 4-5 wide concept with the RB who could catch the ball like a WR out of the back field and the WR concept routes they were running. No one was ready for that in college...Not sure how u can draft a guy #1 with really 1 year of good tape. If he was elite..he would have played early and won the stating job at TOSU or has a great year his Junior year.

I like Burrow a lot and no chance bengals do it but guessing they could have got at least 2-3 of Miami’s 1st rounders between this year and next year and not picked QB this year. Take a OLineman, WR and take Simmons or Brown. That sets them up much better going forward imo.

So, you're proving my point that MIA completely threw out wonderlic test results w his #5 draft choice. MIA obviously saw enough in tape work that they liked
