For example I don;t buy a 3 down to 2 1/2 because I think the team will only win by 3 points... I buy the hook if the price is right and if it significantly changes the value in my favor in the play... More often than not it does... moving a 3 to 3 1/2 or 2 1/2 is a substantial difference in value.. Does that mean the game will fall within the hook? Most likely, and WAY more often than not the hook will NEVER be a factor... Regardless buying a 6 1/2 to a 7 (even) or a whatever the case may be is not a good idea... You should not bet the game if your buying to a push.. This is a topic that can be debated over and over again, but for the most part buying anything is not a good idea... Lastly, ANYBODY who buys down to the number 2 should re-examine their life

... gentlemen, most people will argue that buying any type of point or hook is amateurish and stupid and I don't disagree... I buy on 3 (most of the time) 7(sometimes) 10 (occasionally)... that is it... I do not buy the hook because I feel like the game is only going to be won in that margin... For example I don;t buy a 3 down to 2 1/2 because I think the team will only win by 3 points... I buy the hook if the price is right and if it significantly changes the value in my favor in the play... More often than not it does... moving a 3 to 3 1/2 or 2 1/2 is a substantial difference in value.. Does that mean the game will fall within the hook? Most likely, and WAY more often than not the hook will NEVER be a factor... Regardless buying a 6 1/2 to a 7 (even) or a whatever the case may be is not a good idea... You should not bet the game if your buying to a push.. This is a topic that can be debated over and over again, but for the most part buying anything is not a good idea... Lastly, ANYBODY who buys down to the number 2 should re-examine their life
